Default Anyone tow their ATV with a car?

I've got an 03 Grand Am and looking to tow my quad. (or possibly both) I bought a 4x8 trailer, but I have yet to buy a trailer hitch for my car. My car is a V6 so I don't think I'll have any problems....but just checking to see if anyone had any experience doing what I want to do.

The key to towing with a car is to watch your weight.

The average car is limited to 1000 lbs of towing capacity, if the trailer is 400 lbs and the ATV is 600lbs you are now at your limit. Don't stuff three 200 lb passengers in the car! or you'll be over the GVW and in trouble with the police/DOT.

Each car is different, check the GVW for your car, the actual weight for the ATV and Trailer - do the math and be sure!

Personally I pull a Suzuki 450 on a 5' x 8' trailer with a Honda CRV - no Problems!

gvwr holds 0 enforcement with police, only thing is gawr and tire rating. check the rating for the car before you follow the above advice

have towed with a 81 buick skylark v6 ,a 8x8 trailer ,no problems just watch your tounge weight ,supposed to be 10% of trailer weight ,or else trailer gets squirly behind the vehical ,
Remember that your going to be slower to get to speed and take longer to stop .also .
current ly have a 99 4 door Blazer V6 and haul a 8'x12' no problems but with 3 atv's you sure can feel the drag and the push when trying to stop.

We tow mine with an 06 Dakota club cab- with the High Output V8, no problems (we can either fit it in the box or tow it on a trailer). My dad's looking to replace it with either an 08 Titan or 08 Sierra/Silverado...
