Hey,
I own a 2007 Fleetwood Evolution E-3. I've been out in it 3 times....the family loves it. I just bought a 2004 yerf-dog CUV and I'm hoping it will fit on the front toy hauler for our trip to the Brooksville Raid re-enactment.

I have a palomino banshee, similar to the evolution. I have a question for you guys. What kind of tongue weight does a 600lb atv add? I have a v8 4runner, suppposedly max tongue weight of 500lbs. The trailer itself weighs around 3k lbs. I'm just wondering if i'll need some airbags or a WDH...hoping not.

thanks

Hey sjbr549,
The water heater gets HOT....even on the low setting (theres three). The great thing about the evolution is there is an outside faucet with Hot and Cold water too. So its come in handy when I needed to scrub the grill. The water pressure is fine....I havent had any issues, even when boondocking.

I haven't weighed the tougue loaded with the Yerf yet, I have a 2002 Ford Expedition XLT with an after market tow package that is rated for 800lbs and 1000lbs with a weight distribution hitch. The Expedition can easily tow the whole thing (I think max tow capacity is 6,000lbs) It also has a brake assist installed.
I called my local RV store, They said to hook up , drive and if I notice an issue bring it in. A WDH is gonna run me $500 through them, so here's to hoping I'm fine!

500 for a hitch is kinda high from what I've seen. Ebay has a few, and they were anywhere from 170 to 400 dollars.

My 4runner is rated at 7300lbs w/ the v8...so I, as well, know it will tow it, just wondering if I will need a wdh or air bags, would rather not. W/ an atv I'm looking at about 4k lbs total. Kind of wish the rack for the atv was in the back of the camper as opposed to the front. I know it might sag a bit in the rear, especially w/ two big dogs in the back, but is that detrimental to any part of the vehicle? I don't want to be rollin down the road ready for camping and have the rear end of my tow vehicle shear off. Dealer said it wouldn't be an issue but he's also a bit of an arsehole. Had he not been the only dealer in town that sold the pop-up I wanted I would have gone elswhere in a heartbeat.

Hey Montana,
I know what your saying....my RV dealer said the same (they're quick to sell , but slow to answer)....my father in law has A LARGE dual axel low-boy trailer for his Kabota tractor and doesnt use a WDH (he drives a f250)....so go figure....I checked online for the WDH but the shipping is as high as the price on some.
I'll see if I can get some pics this weekend and let you know how it goes. The reenactment in Brooksville is 1 1/2 hours from Jax, Fl. ....I'll be takin a state rd as opposed to the interstate, so we'll see...ha

just buy looking at the design of it i would say most of the tounge weight would come from the atv or gear in the front. according to the brouchure the unloaded tounge weight is 395lbs for the E3 max deck weight is 800lbs. some of that weight would be transfered toward the rear. they would'nt design a trailer with 1195lbs of tounge weight d.o.t. or the insurance companies would'nt let them.

I would not go to the expense of a WDH unless you knew that you were too heavy on the tongue weight and you were having sway issues. Are you getting a lot of sag on the truck springs? 2 to 3 inches are OK... Big sag will be issues. Just remember that you can add the airbags, but your GVWR will not go up as far as the law is concerned. The sticker is what you got... Also, your truck should be able to handle 1000 at least if you have a decent hitch. I should say "Rated" hitch.
