There are aftermarket shift levers that adapt the foot shift to a hand shift. Pretty sure that Rocky Mtn or Carabellas have one - not too expensive either.
A better sloution would be to get a different quad with either electric shift (Honda) or full automatic.

Robbie it did a great job going thruogh muddy swamps and some very steep pipelines my cousin and i rode the most the first 2 yrs. we got our quads , like i stated in the reply above when i went through mud that others got stuck in i would have to go around them in deeper muck and mire than they were stuck in to get in front to pull them out !
There's a trick i mastered with turning the handle bars left and right while throwing my weight around , this caused the big straight front axle differencial to dig in eating it's way through some of the worse mud holes we encountered ; and about your Dad having no left leg no problem !
Don't waste your money on one of these hand shifter's i bought one from Cabellas and one from Bass Pro Shops , they both bent on the first shift total junk ; i was in the Small Engine Service And Repair Industriy for over 20 yrs. and what i did was take part of an old lawn mower handle cut it to the proper lenth hammered one end flat then cut a short peice flatened it and drilled one hole in the foot shifter drilled three hole's in the handle and flat peice and bolted them together put a Bike hand grip on the top of the lawn mower handle and i was good to go !
Are you could just make the same peice of handle bar and have someone with a welder tack it to the foot shifter , that's how i had to do to my 93' Suzuki LT4WD 300 KQ ; the foot shifter was to narrow and thin to drill the hole like i did to the Honda so it was quicker to just tack weld the hand shifter to the foot shifter !
Even with both leg's off at the knee's i could shift the Honda as good as i could with my foot before i lost them on Motorcycles , with no hand clutch on the Honda 4x4 it was very easiy to get use to ; fix it up so your dad can ride i don't know his age but i turned 55 in april of this year and i'm still a kid at heart and i love to ride and i'm sure your dad is or wil be after he start'sl riding using the hand shifter !
With your Dad having his right leg he will be able to ride more aggressibly than i could by standing on the right foot peg , but look into getting a pair of the bolt on metal floor boards so his foot doesn't slip off the peg and get eaten by the rear tire ; as for having no locker on the Honda all you have to do to get both front wheel's to lock is grab the front brake lever and both will engage and lock together !
I never had a repair manual for the Honda but with my background in small engine repair and a good freind who was a Dealer , we shared information with each other things she didn't know about lawn and garden equipment ; and her knowledge in motorcycle and atv repair !
But in your case there's a world full of knowledge on these forums , with some very good members to help you out when you need it ; i only wish there had been a home based internet back when i first started working on quads and motor cycles it would've saved me a lot of driving around to get help keeping them repaired and maintained !

We load most of our bikes from the rear with loading ramps and just tie the ramps to the tailgate latch posts so they don't swing out when you get her on the truck (when the front wheels hit the bed, the rear wheels can spin the ramps out).

the regular atv ramps work well, always secure them. we load one into the bed of the truck then onto a trailer for the second one. never have had any problem



befor we got the trailer we took two vehicles. the ramp still worked great loading into the truck, put your quad into low and go slow up the ramp so you don't pop a wheely, lol. the ramps don't even bow and the brutes are heavy! the ramps fold in half the long way. when your all loaded up they fit right under your quad in the truck bed.
