Trailer Mod thought
#1
I have a 5x10 trailer with fold down rear gate. I have to turn second quad sidways just to fit 2 sport quads. Now I am looking at third quad for wife who will ride once in a while. Thinking about building a rack that will put this quad above the rear of the other two that can be removed when only hauling two. Wondering if anyone has anything like this that I can build from. If you have anything like this post a picture that I can build from.
Thanks

Why dont you put one of them in the bed of the truck? Use a set of ramps from the trailer to the truck bed, that way you don't have to fab up a rack or unhitch the trailer to get the bike loaded and unloaded. Just a thought.

Check out this site for ideas: Double Deck Sport Trailers, LLC I would also use the back of the pickup if you have one. I can't imagine driving a quad up ramps long enough to get to a second deck on a trailer. That would be around 6-7 feet off the ground to clear the quads parked on the 1st deck of the trailer.

Thanks for the link Moose, those look a little to expensive for me to tackle. I pull with a Jeep and prob would be cheaper to buy a truck than one of those trailers. I loaded the 400x tonight and did a little measurement... Looks like the floor of the rack is only going to be about 4 feet up. I have some heavy alum stock ( mostly commercial server racks ) that I would like to use to keep the weight down. I guess I just need to get it all out and start mocking it up and take it to a welder.

Probably for the same money, you could sell the 5x10 and get a 6x14/16. Then, it would be an easy load front to back when hauling two ATV's and yet still available to turn them sideways for the occasional 3-ATV load.

One of the guys I took a ride with recently had a 6x14. He generally loads end to end so it is easy. Sport quads can be moved sideways easy enough.

guess I need to look around. Here in PA anything over 3000 lb capasity requires trailer brakes.. was looking to avoid that. Not to mention the little cherokee already knows it is pulling the 5x10.. But thanks for all the input..

Whatever your trailer configuration, if your "little Cherokee" is doing the tow you'll be much happier (and safer) with a trailer that has brakes. 3 sport quads plus your 5x10 modified trailer will weigh in at around 2,000 pounds. That's enough to push a 3,500 pound Cherokee.
