Who is the King of the Utiltys?

Hey SHOTGUN what do your tires and wheels weigh, your rims look pretty light or am I looking at them wrong? Also whats been your longest pull and how much was it? weight wise? How many axels do you go through in a week, LOL.

FUFIGHTER;
Wheels and tires weight about 50 lb each. A full pull is either 250 or 300 ft, depends on where your pulling. We hope for a full pull every time.
the drag sled weights 10,000 lbs. Haven't broke any axles, but a transmission this summer.
I have lent my tires out to other pullers, only to find that their brand of ATV won't stand up to the traction the pit bulls provide. They break universal joints and drive shafts.

I have a 2003 ac 500i and to be honest with you it doesn't handle quite so good at high speeds don't get me wrong I love the bike but sometimes two things just don't go together like the super high ground clearance and the IRS mated with a 650 power house were going to see alot of guys in the bush. Also it worries me when you see rumors of 800cc power plants mated with these suspension platforms, I think there looking for trouble. Its hard to get the best of both worlds but you just can't change the facts. Maybe a self tuning independant might work but were taking future trash now.

People who are REQUIRE IRS, don't care about "High Speed" handling.
Rock crawling requires IRS, Locking differentials and High clearance. High Speed cornering is a moot thing, since you rarely go over 5MPH.

That's funny you say that.
My riding partner Jack, has a SP600 and a CJ-7 Rock Crawler, full ARB. I have a SP700 and a 1947 ****** Rock Crawler. We say it all the time.....The ATV's are awesome....and getting bigger.....pretty soon they'll be "Jeep" size.
Full circle!

Well considering that we now have Yamaha Rhino's, Polaris's same type of setup and Kawasaki mules, Hell I guess I better trade in my quad to buy a jeep just to keep up! LOL. I mean like, what can get better than these? Do they come with air condiioning, heaters, leather seats, 100,000km warranty, lumbar support, sunroofs, lift kits, signal lights, mirrors, and a partirdge in a pear tree? Hell with buying a jeep i may as well go buy a new truck!
All jokes aside, it's amazing what we have now and how far we have come in 20 years.

All of the utility quads out there are for the most part, good machines. Each has it's own strengths and weaknesses. For one quad owner to say they have the best machine is crazy. If you compare all of the areas, (horse power, torque, susp. travel, ground clearance, top speed, handling, etc.) you will see that many of the quads are good in some of the areas, but not one quad is best at all of the areas. I personally own a new Kawasaki 700 prairie and I love it. I would like to have IRS, but there are draw backs to IRS just as there are draw backs to straight axle. CHECK OUT THE FOLLOWING:
Consumer Report has the following quads listed for the last 8 years for realibility:
Honda 1st
Kawasaki 2nd
Yamaha 3rd
Suzuki 4th
Bombardie 5th
Artic Cat 6th
Polaris 7th
These are the facts from consumer report, which are statistically non-basis.
Another specification fact is the following:
Kawasaki 700 prairie has the most horsepower of all utility quads and the most torque. This is based on the mfg. reports from each company. DON'T TAKE SUBJECTIVE ADVICE......READ THE FACTS FROM THE MFG. AND CONSUMER REPORT

I was looking for that info from consumer reports before I bought my quad, and had alot of trouble finding it. Where did you find this info, magazine, or net. Could you post a link?? thanks WN

Yes, I have been a subscriber to Consumer Reports magazine for the last few years, and have never come across the article on the reliability of Quad manufacturers. What month and year issue did you find this in? Or did you get this info off of their website?

IMO that 8 years goes back way too far. 3 years tops should be it. A lot of companies have improved vastly over that span.
To show how rediculous 8 years is, consider this:
Arctic Cat is ranked #6
Arctic Cat now uses engines from Suzuki and Kawasaki exclusively.
Suzuki is ranked #4 and Kawi #2
The drivetrains in them are virtually identical at this point.
8 years is too long.
Remember what we had 8 years ago? A top machine was my uncles Kawi Bayou 400 because it was 400cc (the biggest around that time) and liquid cooled. Compare apples to apples.
