Default Who is the King of the Utiltys?

I love my king quad....dont laugh! I does exactly what a "UTILITY" quad was meant to do. I can pull anything with it and it NEVER seems like I could damage it. It rides great but doesnt like to jump or go real fast. It has gears galore and a manuall locking front diff lock. With my front axle locked in its "super-low" gear range, I honestly believe you could hook almost any quad back to back with it and the "other" quad would have a hard time moving forward, unless we are talking the BIGGEST polaris and BOMBARDIER models. It all comes down to weight, torque and traction when you are pulling something. Ive got 600 lbs, REAL "4" wheel drive and gearing to make a farm tractor embarrassed. Go ahead try to outpull the KING....back to back with a tow strap...HAHA..!!

I would never do that because I would not like to damage my tranny, or any other part of my quad. do you do this tug of war regularly?

Along with the things you mention, tire size, design, and inflation pressure are huge factors of the feature you refer to as "traction."
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think the problem we -- as a forum -- often get into is in defining what we're talking about. If "king" means "my king can whip your king," our discussion degenerates into elementary-school playground bickering. On the other hand, if "king" means "what works best for me, for my type of riding", then we're addressing the original posted question.

It's kind of simplistic to try to reduce it all to Tractor Pull terms, to Drag Race terms, or to comparing "the numbers", those meaningless measurements that magazine reviewers often use to flesh out their "ride test" articles. I guess I'm still wondering -- if aaronxtreme's original question was about Utility quads, are we gonna answer him in real-world rider terms, or will we try to imitate some ESPN2 or FOX "contest" we watched 'cause we don't actually spend time on a quad ??

Im not going to trash talk and throw off on any bike you buy what you like. I recently got a grizzly do i think its king compared to the rest? Yes that is why i bought it. Now i know the p650 is faster but i didnt buy it to be faster or sportier. It has more ground clearance than the p650 and the IRS. Now the new arctic cat may be the king. All info ive read on it sounds good. But i will stick with my grizz.

HIGHRIDER haha....I was kinda poking fun about my king quad and the pulling contest stuff.........im parodying what some of the guys sound like to me......althougth I actually do kinda believe what I said about pulling. Overall I'd say a suzuki vinson or eiger are 2 of the best "overall" utility quads made. I dont think most people really need the big bore ones for everyday riding and work. Those models have just sorta become the equivelant of big tail fins and long hoods. Its the lets see who will have a bigger engine next year syndrome. Hondas midsize utilites seem to have great quality etc, but lack a few assets for serious work. The king quad I have does seem real outdated etc, but its got all the attributes I mentioned in my earlier post. Its a strcitly last forever work machine.

I would highly recomend the 650 Cat but maybe after 6 months or so after they get some ground time and the bugs worked out. but i bet Arctic Cat has fixed their axle problem. i have never had any problems from my 98 300 4X4 "that wasnt my fault"

that 650 motor almost had me buying a Kawi but i didnt like the bike so i was real happy to hear Arctic Cat was getting it in their bikes.

I'd say if anyone would give the Cat a chance they'll stick with them cause they are built tough and will handle any abuse dished out to them.

everyone around me was Honda all the way but they are still on bikes built before 1990 so i really didnt listen to them when i was looking for me one cause they had no basis on the new bikes and when one of them was looking for a new one they didnt get a Honda but rather a Polaris. Mainly because of price but he didnt think Honda was building them as well anymore. but i couldnt convince him to get a Cat. but i really like mine and when i buy another one if no one has abetter bike than the 650 i will be going with the Cat 650.

The king of utilities is the one that does everything you need it to do, never breaks down, and is paid for. In my case it is a Rubicon. I am sure this will vary with everyone here.

I don't know how anyone could say that one is the best.

Nah, you're right, Specta --

One is only good.
Two is better.
Three is the Best.

(That's three Hondas, of course ! <LOL>
