Default Warn 2000 / 2500

From what I read the 2500 is the same winch as the 2000. Only different wireing and switch. What should I do to change my 2000 to a 2500?

If you look on montanajacks.com, you will see an upgrade kit there for $143 to go from a 2000 to a 2500.

It includes a different solenoid, which is the biggest part of the kit. It is heavier duty than our 2000 model and therefore flows more amps from the battery to the winch motor. It also works a little different. The solenoid in our kit only provides 1 function, to turn winch off when key isnt on. The solenoid for the 2500 does this and controls power to the winch in forward and reverse. Therefore a low current wire can be wired to a light duty swithc, either a handheld unit or a handle bar mounted unit. Our switch is large bulky and heavy duty because it actually switches full load power to the winch motor.

So all in all it is a good kit to buy, but would have been cheaper to buy the 2500 lb winch in the 1st place.

ya Action 450s is dead right on the money! Montana jacks is the best place to buy all warn products as they have a price beat guaranty also if you buy the winch upgrade kit this will turn your 2000 into a 2500 the only difference is the electrical system that runs the winch also once you install the upgrade you will wonder how you ever lived without it ITS JUST THAT GOOD! i have heard also of ALOT of 2000 switch failures happening the contacts get burned/scorched not exactly what u need when your stuck in the middle of nowhere and the only way is to winch out! go ahead buy it its the best money youll ever spend! i did and i should have done it a year ago ha!
