Tricking out a Honda Recon

Toolman,
I added an entry within the Mod section but I can't open or view anything. I think the board is missing links to postings. Can you help me with the original question please? I'd rather not join another board. Thanks.

Do you have any idea what The Toolman was refering to when he said drop the clip from the 3rd position to the 2nd position? I'm having a hard time getting a answer. Thanks!!!!

That performance article didn't mention anything about opening up the stock restricted airflow. Seems to me that's where the true bottleneck is. I opened my snorkle up from the quarter sized intake hole to almost the full diameter of the snorkle and went from the stock 95 to a 100 on the main but it still needs more fuel. Mo fuel means mo powa. The problem with stuffing bigger and bigger mains in is that there comes a point you need to change the needle that affects the mid range and transitions. What I plan to do is order the stage 2 kit for the 250 Spurttrax. Many more jets to play around with and since the Stage 1 doesn't take into account opening up the air intake/modified airbox; realistically, I think that's the place to start. Personally, I think the K&N is a waste of money. By the time you add the pre-filter on, you're back in the same restrictive boat. How can you flow more air when the snorkle restricts it anyway!!! That stock foam filter properly oiled will do the job just fine, trap all the small particles as it was designed to do. The K&N without that foam pre-filter is great for clean environments like street use and dragstrips, but the hard core dirt and mud... don't kid yourself. Dynojet and K&N are closly knit. Check some of the graphs on the Dynojet website, do you see on the graph it says w/K&N Jets (It does for my Triumph Tiger anyway). They want you to think if you buy one you should get the other. When Spring comes and the high altitudes thaw, and I finally get around to properly jetting this recon, I'll let y'all know the formula I use and the gains I got. I just cannot see wasting money on pipes, wheels, and air filters on a 250 Recon. For 2000 CDN more I coulda bought a 350 4wd that would have kicked on this 250.
