Default Tricking out a Honda Recon

Just bought a 2003 Honda Recon E and wanted to know what mods I can put on it. It seems as though you could probebly use also the mods for a Honda Sporttrax 250ex.

There really isn't all that much out for the Recon. You could put a skid plate, speedo, different tires, different exhaust or a winch on it. I would start with a skid plate.

Default Tricking out a Honda Recon

My brother has a 2003 Honda Recon ES . There is not many thangs you can put on a Recon . Here is what my brother is adding to his Recon : GB Gator - 22x11x9 back & GB Gator - 23x8x11 front , Full-chassis skid plate , K&N ATV Power Kits , WARN 1,700lb. Winch , Supertrapp Exhaust System , Wide Tracs wheels spacers , & a Snorkel . Thats pretty much everything you can get for a Recon unless you make it your self . He is trying to make his Recon able to follow my Rancher 4x4 in the mud . If he gets it all the accessoriees he has a possiblity of keeping up . Hope I helped !! If you need anymore info. either PM me or just post again .

It seems to me that one could use the same mods for a 2003 Honda Sporttrax 250 as what you can us on a Recon. Is there very many for a 2003 Honda Sporttrax 250?

When I adjusted my valves, I hogged out the air intake hole on the snorkel almost flush with the diameter of the tube. This made an incredible difference in the A/F mixture. I replaced the 95 jet with a 100 and it still needs more fuel. What I plan to do is order the Stage 2 DynoJet kit for the 250 SportTrax, it has more usable jets than the stage 1 available for the Recons and the cost is the same, go figure. The K&N is a must at that point. As for the exhaust, I’m sticking with the factory unit unless you guys convince me that spending $370 CDN on a SuperTrapp is a serious improvement.

Put a #42 pilot jet in place of the 38 and it will start better and idle smoother, drop the clip from the 3rd notch down to the second notch also then you will have great low end and midrange perf.

I took the clean out plug out of the bottom of the muffler and it releived a lot of the back pressure without any extra noise!!

Ronnie-The-Tool-Man,

I just purchase a used 1999 Honda Recon (in great shape) and found your entry here. Sounds like advice from a salty veteran

Can you point me to any links that would help me research how to replace my pilot jet, drop the clip one notch? and take the clean plug out of my muffler? Thanks!

Sincerely,
muddydad.

It would be a lot easier to explain to ya over on the delphi forum I have at http://forums.delphiforums.com/atves/start

It is a lot easier forum to work and figure out than this one.

Hey Muddy, did ya ck the box when you signed up so it would let ya know when somebody replied to ya in the other forum I have?
If you can get it figured out, which is really easy you'll like it real well. )

We have another forum that is M/C related and have about 250.000 messages and about 9000 members. It is a delphi Forum also.
