whats the best 400CC atv???

This has been interesting and educational thread. I have decided that a few people are stupid, only using their words; quote "Are yall stupid or what", and ignorant, and one of them has a wife named "Outlander"! Is she French? quote "If I wanted to procreate I would choose a pretty wife, but I want to ride (her) hard and work it (her) even harder I choose the beautiful (Ms.) Outlander". Strange.
They were even surprised when their own friend bought an ugly yellow Outlanders; quote "Guess what he purchased this last friday a new yellow Outlander XT I was shocked". Wow, even he was shocked.
They did prove it is almost the best; "it whipped the crap out of them all except", "Get out of the rut man, and buy one of the best 400ss atv's ever made. I would buy one but".
And what conclusions can we draw about the Outlander? Lets quote a few responses; "The Outlander looks a lot like a big Power Wheels, and it was just down right ugly, I want to compare it to a marriage. It likes saying "Ya, I know my wife is ugly, but man can she cook, don't forget, you have to look at that every morning. Wouldn't you want something a little easier on the eyes?, can you imagine seeing an Outlander in you garage every day? I just put together a Power Wheels quad for my son and it looks better than it does."
What they might have learned; Don't tell me that Bombardier is 15-20 times bigger than Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha put together. Do you realize what those three companies make. You don't see Honda selling a division of their company. Is Suzuki selling a division? No Yamaha? No. Bombardier? Yes And I don't care if they make trains and planes. If you can't make money as whole business, you won't be in business.
And why do I think one of these people need to grow up? "Are yall stupid or what, . """"DUMMY""", DO YALL KNOW HOW BIG BOMBARDIER IS?, UGLY, NO, DIFFERENT, YES, BABIES!!!!!.
And who is the one who fits this description? "STUPID IS WHAT STUPID SAYS, AND THATS PRETTY STUPID" So stupid, what do you have to say??
I read somewhere that the 04 Outlander comes with a mask of President Regan so your friends wont recognize you too. Way to go Bomb!
Now you guys can trash me if you want. I still wont buy an Outlander. Even though they are a nice quad.

Reliability! you got to be kidding, when the first Bombardier ATV was built it was the Traxter. The prototypes got insane miles on them, one protptype has 125,000 miles on it. The Canadian forestry service has one with 35,000 miles on it.
The DS 650 won the Baja 2000 first time out without full factory support.
The only production based ATV to finish the Paris to Dakar rally was a DS 650.
The editors of ATV Rider magizine planned a expedition to the remote areas of Alaska covering thousands of miles. They said the trip was life threatening, temps were sub zero and no one around for help. The choice of ATV was the Bombardier Traxter & Traxter-Max(see June or July's edition).
My experience with air cooled engines are when worked very hard at lower speeds or ridden through very slow trails these engines get extremely hot. When we cross the Naugatuck river after a long technical ride ALL the air cooled machines stall out. Not because of water but from the quick contraction of the cylinder around the piston, not good. The guys who ride with us who have air cooled engines within two years are burning oil! Yes a Rancher 350, a Yami Big Bear 400 and a Cat 300 are all burning oil. I do realize these are extreme conditions and not everyone will see these conditions but it is still an indication of engine life.
Rotax engines are in BMW, Aprilla, and ATK motorcycles not to mention they are the only engines that were approved by the US military for our flying drones.
I'll take my 3 year bumper to bumper warrantied Outlander anyday over a air cooled Honda, Yamaha, or anything else. Smoke em in every category, working, the trails, hills, rocks, power and handling. YES EVEN LOOKS.

Rotax is the largest engine manufacture in the world. The person who designed the engine in the Porsche Boxter now works for Rotax. Still wont buy an Outlander. I am never going to take my ATV to Alaska in sub-zero temperatures. I will never race any of my ATV's in any Baja race. I don't care who wins. We have a two year old Rancher we bought for our daughters to ride so they can go out with us, it doesn't burn oil. I guess we will keep it. Air-cooled engines are not a concern to us. We don't care if the air cools them or liquid. Neither one has ever given us any troubles.
It kills me when someone doesn't ride what someone else does and they end up being on a crusade from God trying to convince everyone that the decision they made is so far superior to everyone else’s. And why does everyone ride their ATV harder than anyone else? I want to know who rides theirs the hardest.
I don't like manual shift transmissions. I don't like belt drives, and it is not a dependability issue. I don't like the way they drive. Period.
I do like the trans in the Rubicon and the Rancher AT. The trans is why we bought our Rubicon. I like the way they work, their shifting programs and their engine braking. There is no other trans in any ATV that is anything like it. If you don't like the trans in the Rubicon, don't buy one! I won't think you are an idiot or try to convince you that you made a mistake or try to talk you into buying one.
When we bought our first ATV we walked into the dealer ready to buy a Polaris and walked out with a new Rubicon. One of the best decisions we ever made. The more we ride it the more we love it.
No Bombs or belts in our garage. I lied; our edger and lawn mower have belts.
Long warranty's are a sales gimmick, not a sign of dependability or quality. I thought everyone learned that from Chrysler.

I have to agree with you on this one. I dont care if a quad won a desert race. I dont care if some goofball rides his quad in subzero temperatures. If he wants to freeze his **** by all means go ahead! Really, how many people go riding in subzero tempertaures everyday? You really gotta love your job to do this! by sub zero what temperature in Celsius range are you talikng about anyway? -20 degrees celsius? big deal? how about -30. your more dedicated than me to go out in -30 or colder. When its that cold I will ride my snowmobile thankyou. If your quad works than fine.
But dont come in here bragging it all up when we just go and ride for the same reasons. Everyone in here rides to get away from work and stress. If your job is to ride quads around then you got the best of both worlds i guess. It doesnt matter what you ride. Just go out there and ride!
(I still think the outlander is goofy looking though. just my two cents)

Since this tread is about the best 400cc atv.
Outlander just won another big one. All Terrain Vehicle Mag's. Best 400-500 Sport-utility atv.
Some people will never consider another brand but the one they own, what a shame.
I own 4 different brands of atv's and motorcycles, each one the best in their catagory.
GIVE CREDIT WHERE IT IS DUE. THE BOMBARDIER OUTLANDER IS THE BEST 400 MACHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where have we not given Bomb credit? I have said several times in this thread that the Outlander is a great quad, one of the best in the 400 class. Have we not all said the Outlander is a great quad????? Maybe you need to back and read this thread again. We just said it was ugly, not bad.
What will it take for you to understand that it is not the "best quad" for everyone?? Best in class or not!
I am not going to buy one because it is "best in class". I don't make my purchases because what other people think but what I thing!
I considered three different ATV's when we made our first purchase. We liked the transmission in the Rubicon and bought it. We didn't know it was ATV Magazine's pick for ATV of the year.
We would consider any (almost) brand ATV with an automatic that isn't belt driven. Don't like the way they drive. Belts are not a reliability issue with us. As I stated before.
You are the one with a bad case of tunnel vision.

Hey, I got an idea. How about we stop reading magazine shootouts and find out for ourselves if we like the ride of the machine or not! Magazines can be so biased as many companies have a large factor in what is written in them anyways.
Of course its the testers in the magazine who place their comments. Most of the time you will see one tester bashing it and another loving it. THE POINT? everyone is an individual and likes difernet machines for different reasons whether it be price, looks, performance, weight or color. That should be enough for all of you to realize. Maybe that will settle this stupid argument

I heard bombardere maid a bike so I walked into there show room and back out the door without even stopping. Call me shallow but those bikes are double baggers. Beauty is only skin deep but ugly is to the boooonnnee. Not picking a fight. good bye.

I kinda like Honda and Yamaha because i think they are, in general, more reliable. However, I am seriously considering Bombardier for my next ATV. Because I know their other products in general are quite reliable. I believe the front differential works better than honda's, and they perform better overall. And yes, i think the Bomb is a little on the ugly side. But i really won't give a crap about that when i'm to the racks in mud. I know there are a lot of atv's out there that will outperform my rancher. But i personally don't trust their reliability. Bombardier could change that opinion.
