plow advice
#2
Oops.
I'm looking to get a plow. I've looked into cycle country and moose, and they both seem like good products.
I also found a company called Swisher, and they have both a snow plow, but also a toothed dump bucket plow. I plan on using a snow blade primarily, but the idea of being able to do light grading with my Foreman sounded very cool. I just didn't know how well it would work, or how well it was built.
Has anyone tried a plow product by Swisher? Is it a well built product? Has anyone tried one of these bucket plows for light grading/scraping work? Do they work well/so so/poorly?
Any advise will be very helpful in my choice.
Thanks

I just purchased the polaris sportsman deluxe set up for $385, doesnt include lift mechanism/mounts. At the time of order I didnt realize if I was using a winch I needed to buy a $60 bracket as well sooo that brings the total to $445.
Ive read about the Swisher line in several areas during my search and Ive heard/read nothing but good things about their product. I kinda regret not ordering that system. I too liked the whole bucket idea but at $350 I didnt think Id go and buy it anyway so when I saw Polaris offering free shipping I jumped on their offer. AGAIN not knowing the other $60 item I was goin to need. The best price I found on the Swisher system was approx. $432 delivered.
Both systems about are the ONLY systems that Ive come across that include a full length push tube. All other systems have/include some mid mount bracket that needs to be permanently mounted to ur underside (or atleast during the snow season) where ur pushtube/plow attaches. This system probably works just as well but creates a possible clearance issue if you ride in rocky terrain, as I do. Ive read many times where ppl have bent up the ears/tabs making it very difficult if at all possible to remount the plow w/out repair.
If I cld do it all over again Id probably reconsider the Glacier system, been hearing ppl are very happy with it and the tabs on the mid mount plate are very small hardly effecting clearance.
Food for thought!
Gdluck!

I got a Cycle Country plastic 60". After calling their factory, their lifetime guarantee covers grading and gravel, too. If it should every break - they'll replace it no questions asked. You can't stand behind your product any better than that!

I checked out all the brands before I bought the Moose 60" straight plow for my Sportsman 500. The moose is a rugged, high quality piece of equipment. I like the quick release mounting system and easy angle adjustment. I use my winch for raising/lowering but some guys like the manual lift better. If you get a chance to see one in person you will see it's a lot tougher than the other brands. I've used it for gravel, but don't expect to dig into hard roadbed because the only force pushing the blade down is the weight of the blade. For snow, it's so much fun to use I have to hide the keys to the quad or my wife does all the plowing before I get home.

Now thats a good woman!
If its not too much trouble can you measure the blade width? Im just curious if its actually built stronger than the 48" blade I just got from Polaris.
TIA!
