Well, I'm not really sure how many ways you can repair a wrecked ATV, but I'll tell you what... I'll take my chances with a half a$$ repair, then argue with the Progressive adjuster over getting absolutely nothing and having to fork over another $6500+, any day.

You threw it out there so I'll bite....

So.....how DO they repair their insureds vehicle? Also, whose underwriting your ATV policy?

How about repairing structural parts that clearly require replacement. Refusing to pay the going labor rate. Demanding the use of aftermarket and used parts on as many vehicles as they can, reguardless of vehicle age or mileage or even the vehicle owner requesting the use of genuine oem parts. They refuse to remove and re-install any glass, mouldings, lamps or trim on blend panels that are refinished. If you are educated in all aspects of collision repair and have the time to be in that shop while your vehicle is being repaired, you might be allright. How many people have that knowledge or time?

Well, I know that in New York state, Repair shops, even those that are Insurance company shops, are REQUIRED, by law, to use OEM parts if the customer specifically wants them. And I would assume that most people that buy the insurance want their ATVs to be up to spec. As far as the labor rates, that is between the shop and the insurance company to hammer out, and again, in NY, there are laws to address this issue.
I agree with you, I'm going to try avoid having to make a claim, but should I need to, I feel better knowing I have some protection available. I own a house too, and I'm protecting that investment as well.

Wisconsin has laws similar to that as well, but that leads back to the customers knoweledge of collision repair. All I'm saying is that certain insurance companies exploit the customers ignorance reguardless of any laws. I'm talking about 03 and 04 vehicles with 20k in excelent shape estimating aftermarket parts, and in many cases the shop is restricted from informing the customer. A person should not have to fight every step of the way for a quality repair. This is also just my own view from years of experience as a master technician, trying to do a good job, in a reputable shop. I'ts interesting to see many states passing laws in the last two years banning direct repair programs, insurer owned shops, or any insurance interest in collision shops. Look at State Farm, they learned the hard way about using aftermarket parts. Read your policy- even the finest print, and dont let them get away with anything!

Geez.....I wrecked my Raptor in a crash and did $2200 worth of damage and the adjuster came to my house and wrote a check that day and covered more than what I did in the accident! I was very pleased with there service! But I know all to well about some people getting top notch service while the guy down the road gets crap and will never buy insurance through them again! I guess this world is full on those situations.
