Default ATV Insurance....

Anybody here have their ATV's insured for Comp, Collision, etc? I just received an offer from Polaris to insure mine and they want $950 bucks a year! I know an ATV is high risk but OUCH! That's more than I pay for my new $45,000 F150 SuperCrew 4x4!!!!

Any ideas? I'd be interested in hearing the who, what, and where with your insurance experiences.

I have my Raptor insured on the same policy as the cars and boat. It's about $200 a year through Nationwide. I got the insurance mainly for theft but as long as it's not on a race track, I have a $100 deductible for collision/comprehensive. I have to keep all receipts for aftermarket parts and they will reimburse 100%. I tried to get racing insurance, they wouldn't even talk about it:-)

I've got full coverage including theft for $85.30 every 6 months through Farm Bureau Insurance. Not bad, but it is a $500 dollar deductible.

Gloxter...$81 per 6 months? They must think you are Almighty God himself! I just got an online quote from Progressive for TWELVE HUNDRED PLUS DOLLARS! I shaved the coverage down to bare minimum and dropped a bunch of stuff and the lowest I could get it was around $750. Are you already insured through them? I'm not but have a flawless record but I don't have a Motorcycle license. Do you? The question came up several times on the online quote and I wonder if that influences things even though we're not required to have a license. Just for grins, giggles, and comparison, I have a new 2003 F150 SuperCrew Lariat model 4x4 with every bell and whistle obtainable including a high dollar shell (over $45,000) and a 1998 Ranger SuperCab XLT 4x4 with all the bells and whistles including the identical shell and have maximum coverage on both. Both the wife and I have flawless records and insurance experience. For both vehicles, I pay just over $1200 a year....total! WOW! I'm surprised so far. I'm gonna call my insurer tomorrow and see what they can do.

Tree Doc, insurance is a subject that gets rehashed here on a regular basis as a search will show you. I too have Progressive and its cost to me is $94 per year not for 6mo. Insurance depends on a lot of things, where you live, your age, dmv record, credit record, etc. Check with your present auto agent. If they are an independent agent they will be able to give you the best price in your area. If you're dealing with a company agent, don't expect too much, you'll have to look around for an independent. I did the check online with Progressive and got a figure of something like $490 for the same full coverage I now have through them by way of my own agent.

I have full coverage on mine, including comp, collision, etc. and it is $195 a year through Progressive. That's on the Foreman. The 400EX is $300 / year.

Wow! I guess I'm getting a LOT better deal than I thought! I've got my truck, wife's car, 2 Harleys, and house insurance through Progressive. I also have a discount for taking the ATV Safety course (3 times) and AMA member discount.
For full coverage with $250.00 deductible (comprehensive, collision, and $100,000/300,000 medical) my premium is $32.00 per year, that's right, per YEAR. No accidents, tickets, or claims in the past 3 years. Most people I know are paying at least twice that, if not more.
I guess it helps to have multiple policies through them, have a decent record, and be 42 years young.
Finally, something to feel good about!

All the more reason for me to get out of California!!!

Wolverine, your talking about JUST your ATV, right? Man, I hit 42 last Saturday with an excellent (perfect) driving record. I checked with the ATV-line.com service and I did get it down by half but that's without collision or medical or any additional equipment beyond $500 bucks. Their original quote was $850 so I asked her what the deal was....she said she was shocked at the amount too and had to double check. It's California she said! I wonder how much influence the AMA and the safety classes have? I have no problem taking a class or two and kicking in for a membership to AMA or whoever if it helps chop the policy cost. Dang, this is much more frustrating than I expected it to be.

Yeah, $32.00 per year for the Wolverine. For it and both Harleys, with the same coverage limits & deductible, with no layover period on the bikes through the Winter, it's $555.00 per year. That includes $1,000 in extras on the XLS and $2,500 on the FXD.
