I'm not looking to make it louder but it seems the top end is real low for a 400. I'm used to smaller 4 stroke sport quads (230 Quadsport,250X) that i know weigh half as much, but this is supposed to be a high compression, water cooled upgrade from the old days, but I'm not feeling the grunt I thought I would. Not looking for miracles but would like to get by the prairie 360 My frind has instead of staying even.
Saw something about a rev limiter ??

Well, you can't have power without the sound.

But if you really want more punch...get a slip on pipe, K&N Filter and a Jet Kit.
Gotta let the motor breathe. You'll get more mid range and better top end.

Gotta have (at a minimum ) a better flowing exhaust and intake.

I did one of those exhaust end caps and a air filter. I am not sure how much it helped but my 450 will go about 58 mph with ITP 589's in 26 inch. I think it would do that with the stock tires as well so I gained the weight of the tires and still have my top end and speed. I figured it was a good compromise! The wheeler really isen't that much louder but has a real nice deep tone to it!

I looked and they don't offer a exhaust end cap for your 400 only for the 450......?? don't understand why but anyway, I ordered the air filter from Ronnies. I did get the exhaust end cap off E-Bay

Did you get the K&N filter? I thought they didn't make one for the 450.

I got the Uni filter for mine. If they offer a K&N filter I don't think they are as good in dusty conditions.

you guys know anything about that rev bypass? I have a 400 and can't stand how it starts hitting that limiter or whatever it is when im in the mud. If they do have one for my bike where should i purchase it. Should it even be doing that when going forward or is it just reverse because mine does it in both. I think the 27 inch 589s have something to do with it bogging even with the jet kit I had installed. Really miss that low range the 450s have, any low range power adding tips out there?

will the k&N air filter fit on the kodiak 450? is that end cap a worthwhile purchase? I thought about it for awhile but then i wasnt sure if warranty would cover it or not. I know the 04 kod 450's have a locker over ride. there is also a way to bypass the rev limiter going in reverse. its somewhat technical though.
