Default How much difference???

I was wondering how much difference there is between 589's and Mudlites as far as mudding ability, general ride, and wear. My riding parter has a set of 589's mounted on type 4( i think, does type 4 sound righht) itp rims on order. I was set on Mudlites, but have recently considered 589's instead. I know the Mudlites are easier to turn, but I dont think that will be a factor. Does anyone out there have experiance with both tires. Thanx

The Mudlites are better in the mud as long as they are the 26 inch or larger. The mudding
ability of the 589's is lacking in my opinion. As for wear, the 589's will wear better than
the Lites on hardpack. The ride on both is comparable, but I'd go with the Lites there as
well. Out of the two you are choosing from, I'd go with the Lites. Have you looked at any
other tires?

Yeah I have looked around. The main thing I like about the Itp's that they are so much lighter than all the other mudtires that I have seen. Also, I think that the Itp's would ride better than the other tires I have seen. One of my friends had vampires on his Rancher, but swears that the 589's he has now are so much better. He says they ride smoother, mud better, and wear better. Most of my riding is hardpack, rocks, and some mud. That is why I had seriously considered the Mudlites. It will most likly be atleast this summer before I decide. The stock Rawhides I have on the Polaris work suprisingly well. They by far outperform the stock tires on the Hondas. They hook pretty well, and ride pretty good. I have also have not noticed any wear. The biggest drawback to the Rawhides, is they are 2 ply. I have already pushed one off the rim, and punctured another. (Cant really say that is the tires fault.) But I know that they would be less prone to puncture if they were a 6 ply such as the Itp's.

589's better than Vamps? I tend to think your friend may be blinded by his
new tires to a certain extent. I've owned both and the Vamps are superior
in the mud and in wear length. If you are riding mainly hardpacks and rocks,
I'd look at something else besides Mudlites.

Tyr, how did the vamp compare to the 589's in ride(smoothness, and comfort). Also, could you tell a diff in how much power it took to turn those vamps. By the way he has had the 589's for at least a year. Why do not think the Mudlites would perform on hardpack and rocks? Just wondering.
