On the new EFI quads like the Sportstman and the new King Quad, if you install an aftermarket pipe and filter, will the bike automatically adjust it's fuel-air mixture to compensate?

I guess it all depends on the computer programing. The Sportsman uses a Bosch EFI system, so I would venture to say that it would automaticly adjust. But, seeing that there is not aftermarket exhausts for the Sportsman EFI as of yet, that is to be seen.

I thought you would have to reprogam the computer?? Thats why all the Polaris dealers got those new computers with the EFI software. I'm prolly totally off, but I thought that ATV Connection said in there review that you need to take it up to the dealer. I know it can, but i think there is some reprograming to be done, who knows.....

If you don't have to reprogram for elevation or temp. changes, why would you have to for a pipe??? I don't know for sure but when I put my White bros on the scrammy I only went 2 sizes up

The system that they use may require you to reprogram the computer. I just dont know. I do know that with the fuel injected Harleys, you have to have the EFI re-mapped with the addition of new pipes. The 700EFI may be the same way

I just read that they approved the purepolaris pipe for the 700efi. I have the white bros(same pipe) on my scrammy and love it!!! Might be worth checking out

All this efi stuff is still too sketchy for me. I stay in the same elevation constantly so its really of no purpose. Not to mention the fact that if I want to mod my machine i know all I have to do is rejet.

Just like on Mustangs, specialy the FOX chassis! 87 and 88 did not have Mass Air Sensors. So any changes to the engine like timing, intake, etc. You had to have a new chip burnt for the mods. Now with the Mass Air sensor in all 89 and newer, it was no longer required. The sensor was making all the changes on the fly! You could still add a burnt chip to a mass air system, but it was only for going beyond the stock settings.

So if these new Quads will be running there own type of Mass Air sensors, then NO! No adjustments will be needed. At least not from a pipe or filter! Now if you bore it out, open up the intake ports and put a bigger cam in then thats a different ball game there!
