Default Light question

I am asking this here becouse noone in the Honda forum would answer. My friend has an 89 Fourtrax 300. His lights are in really crappy shape, and I suggested he use some of those cheap off road lights in the automotive section of walmart. He could get two driving lights and a big fog light for the front of his quad and wouldnt cost much. The question is, will the batt have enough juice to push the lights. What do yall think?

I just picked up a set of $20 driving lights from AutoZone and installed them in my Warn bumper and they work great! Hope this helps.

I suggest going to the source of all knowledge when it comes to power for lights. Check with Ricky Stator... he does this for a living. He can tell you what you can get by with or have to do on this model. He helped me on my son's raptor 80 with information and gave it up willingly for free...
You have to respect a guy like that...

I also bought a $20 set of driving lights from AutoZone (Pilot brand) and they were great on my quad. My buddy now has it and those suckers are BRIGHT. Haven't had any problems.

You really need to match the wattage to what the Stator puts out, otherwise you will kill the battery real fast. Bright lights are OK until everything goes dark and the bike quits running. Most mini's can handle 20 Watts, but go beyond that and you are asking for trouble. Yamaha is maxed out at 20. According to Ricky Stator, the Yamaha's stator is broken into two halves, one half runs teh bike and electric startin, the other side is not used... Both sides put out 20 watts each... so unless you want to burn up the stator or kill the battery to run higher wattages, you need to stay below the 20 mark.

Just bolting up the brightest thing since a nuclear blast may not be wise.
