Default My quad backfires Why??

Hi guy's I need a little advice. I have an 98 honda TRX300 Quad I hardley ever ride it it probalbly has less then 100 miles on it.
the problem I'm having is that after I warm it up and drive it down the road it will backfire then die. But it starts right back up and will do it again. it also idles real low. Could it be bad gas? The air filter still looks brand new. a little dusty Thanks for the help guy's

Bad gas, will cause alot of problems. If its older than 2 months, its lost alot of the lighter, volitile , chemicals.
Try dumping the gas, putting in new gas, adding stabil, (if you think you wont finish that tank in two months). Then see if the other problems go away. For the low idle, turn up the idle speed screw. If it still backfires, it could be a lean circuit in the carb, so either a cleaning or adjusting will need to be done.
Let us know how it goes.

It sounds like it's been sitting a lot. I would dump the gas clean the screen out on the fuel valve, clean and oil the air filter (replace it if the foam is breaking down) change the oil and the spark plug and then see how it runs. If it's still running bad, you may have to take the carb off and clean it. Those motors are pretty bulletproof, so once you get it cleaned up it should be okay.

check the vent coming out of the gas cap if it has one. make sure it is not pinched. i had similar symptoms with my cat once. ride, backfire, then stall. start it back up and it did the same thing a little bit down the trail.
