winch cable replacement?
#1
does anyone know how to change the winch cable on a warn 2000 winch? or maybe where i could find some instructions on how to? its only 2 years old and the cable is frayed, its a A2000 Warn winch.

PULL THE REST OF THE CABLE OUT UNTIL NO MORE IS ON THE SPOOL. THEN LOOK FOR WHERE THE CABLE IS ON THE SPOOL AND THERE SHOULD BE AN ALLEN TYPE SET SCREW THAT HOLDS IT ON THE SPOOL. UNDO THIS SCREW AND PULL TH OLD CABLE OUT AND PUT EH NEW ON IN IGHTEN IT UP ADN WIND THE NEW ONE ON. UNLESS THE WARN IS THAT MUCH DIFFERENT, THAT IS HOW I HAVE SEEN EVERY OTHER ONE? CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG.

on my warn A2500 the rope is ran threw the drum and then looped back threw it to hold it on there. I would recommend replacing it with a 3/16 x 50ft amsteel blue winch rope, not steel rope that way you wount have a problem with the cable getting frayed. It is much stronger then the steel rope and for safety it will not whip lash if it ever did break. Just make sure you always guide the rope when winching it in so it will not stack up and go between the drum.
