Default deadman anchor for winching

Has anyone ever tried an aluminum "danforth" type boat anchor as a deadman for winching? Was just down at the local marine supply store checking out some other stuff and they had quite a selection of take-apart aluminum boat anchors. Sort of looked like a 4 or 5 pounder would be just right for soft ground. Curious if it would be strong enough.

i dont think a dead man is good for anything. after all he cant move or do anything. and you cant use him as an anchor because bodies float.

There is a product out on the market shaped like a "T" that screws down into the ground. Then you attach a winch or whatever to that.

I don't think an anchor would work well. The pulling of the atv and the suction of the mud might pull the anchor right out of the ground. You'd really need something that can go deep enough to hold the weight. But can also be removed afterward.

Fluke anchors do work, I know someone that carrys one in his box. They are somewhat tricky to get set.

Boat anchors will work, but like everything else, not always..not everytime. I've used a LARGE one for pulling my CJ-5 out of some predicaments. It was standard equipment on the beach where there wasn't a tree for miles....

Some of these type anchors have a ring or shackle that when pulled the opposite direction slides down the shank and releases the fluke.

This thing looks like it will work but isn't there something a little smaller than 32"?
