which 4x4 is the better buy
#1
hi I was wondering wich would be the better buy, I have the choice between an '86 honda 350 4x4 with a winch and plow for 2500$, it is in great condition for its age with many new parts. My other choice is a '97 trx300 4x4 for 4900$, it comes with no winch etc. but it is like new and in near mint condition.
thank you

As far as the buy goes, the old one is much better for the money. Now the realistic part.
The 300 honda is a far superior to the old 86 350. Not even close in comparison. Now seeing that you can probably pick up a brand new 300 (depending on stock, and they are probably still around in good quantity) for less than $4900, the deal on the 97 is a crap deal. However, if you are considering dropping that much cash on one, then the best bet would be to go get a new one.
Just depends on what kind of money you want to spend. If you don't want to go over $3000, then the 86 would be ok, but you can find 300's in good condition for a much better price than $4900 if you are patient and look around.

I don't know the conversion rate either but I do know that some of the local Honda dealers here in Utah are running a "Pre-Hunt" special and you can get a brand new Foreman 400 for $4,999.00. I haven't seen any advertised lately but at the beginning of Summer they had TRX 300 4x4's for $4,700.00 new. Good luck.

I wouldn't buy either one. I am canadian and I can tell you that I don't care where you live, $4900.00 for the 300 is a rip off. You should be able to find one for around 3500-4000 in very good shape. There's hords of them around so if I were you, I'd either hold out for something better or buy a new Rancher 350 for 6200.00. Just depends on where you draw the money line. Good luck whatever you decide.
