vinson, I've had mudlites but was thinking about 589's for my next machine. How do you like your 589's? On trail, off road, in mud, snow, etc?

If you dont mind a ruff ride then go with a Mudzilla. They are one of the hardest compunds of rubber I have every seen. My freinds Grizzly has a set on it with just over 4k on them and there still going, alot of what he has been riding on is hard surface too. MIne have about 600 on them now and are showing no sign of wear.

Vinson 581 & 4xZuk,

I just got yet another flat on my stock Vinson tires. This time it was a one inch slit in the side wall so no chance of using a plug. Needless to say I turned around and drove slowly back to the truck as I wathed my 7 friends continue down the trail. I packed everything up and drove straight to the shop and bought 26" Mudlites. I'm having them mounted on my stock rims and they should be ready sometime today.

I've seen these tires in snow & mud and I know these do kill but what about hardpacked dirt and rock crawling? I'm also more conserend with flats so how well do they hold up to punctures? How much heavier are these compared to stock tires and will it rob some of my power? Thanks guys.

Outrage-
I rode a BUNCH of miles on the Hat/McC trail system a couple of weeks ago. We RIPPED (My Prairie Bud, myself, the Ed. and photog. for ATVR) on mud, rock, hardpack (read 50+ mph mining roads), and did some mod. rock crawling. For pure mud, I'd say any of the afore mentioned "mud" tires-589's etc. would be a better bet. But, for "all-arounders" and factoring price-Mudlites hands down! The center lug(s), also used by Kenda Bear Claws, help high speed tracking and keep you from "wagging". Flats? none(knock yer wood) yet. A lot of this **** was flying over sharp rock, and I was waiting for a punc., but by the grace of God-flat-free-flying!
I think you'll be really satisfied w/ your choice!

Ride On!
4x

Thanks guys...I just got back from a snow adventure. All I can say is WOW! It's like riding a new machine. These things rule the snow can't wait to try the mud.

I've got a set of MudLites on my Wolverine, 25", and even though the tread is about 1/2" less than the 26"+ tires, they definitely rule in mud and swampy sections. I can't say anything about the treadwear as I only ride the quads about 25% of the year but I've been VERY satisfied so far.
