700cc+ ATV owners

Outrage - then you need to think carefully the words and phrases you build into your posts. Reading your post, one would surmise you have a general disdain for anyone who "wants" more than they need. I like to call it, "anticipating the future" on the off chance I ever do "need" the extra power - I have it. As for the Jones's - I've surpassed them long ago
To each his own.

it is a fact that people are addicted to speed and power. sure a kodiak is going to be able to go thru a mudhole than a king quad goes through but are you going to be throwing a roost and powering through it like nothing? quadding (if you dont use it for strictly working) is intended for fun and i think it is funner when you can spin your wheels and do wheelies and have the newest biggest ATV. Sure smaller atvs are going to be able to follow but they will probably have less fun than you will. and its not always that you need the power but its the assurance that you know the power is there whenever you need or want it. usually quads with bigger engines come with higher ground clearance, better attention to detail, more options and accessories, etc. so those who say having a 700+ cc quad is useless is partially true, you dont REALLY need that power but its fun to have it. sure 700cc may seem useless but its a hell of a lot more fun.

YES I do believe my big azz 700EFI will go more places than others. not all the time but it is true to a point. a few friends and I all went out to the Mounds recreational area and were going through some tight/rocky-muddy inclines and a buddy on his honda recon could not make it up one of the inclines which I myself at first look did not even think my quad would make it up. he tried 3-4 times then we stuck some tree branches and rocks under the tires in the trenches to give hime traction and then after that he just barely made it. I was behind him and I made it up first try and without a bit of trouble or anything, the power came into play going up this steep incline. the next two quads couldn't make it up so I turned around and got the winch to hook up to them and then put mine in reverse and pulled them up the incline.

outrage i do have to agree with you to a point. i started out on a arctic cat 300 4x4 and had a great time, however as my riding time increased i found my machines limitations very quickly. the next purchase was a arctic cat 500 4x4 which i liked a lot, but lacked the abilities and features i was wanting.after that i owned a vinson 500 manual and a z400 which i miss like you dont believe. however the new KQ sitting in there place has been an awesome experience. the C/G on this bike is unreal and just this weekend i proved that with a good rider a machine will make the difference. we were making trails and a fella riding with me was on a 300 kawasaki 4x4 automatic. he was unable to follow the same trail because power is definetly an issue on an uphill slope with loose soil and log crossings, and dips and ditches and off camber trailing. so if you ride as often as you say you 2 would know that sometimes it does make a powerful difference.

Umm, le'me break it down to you why its better, more useful, and funner to have a (700+) cc machine. I had a Rancher ES 4wd, i loved it, and i could keep up with my cousins Foreman ES 450 4wd but it always seemed he had that little advantage over me in every area. Well i went big with my next atv and last year i purchased an '04 Polaris Sportsman 700 Camo, only to realize there is no comparision to a 300-500cc quad when u have this. all the features come with the bigger quads. Independant Rear Suspension (IRS), True 4wd or Differential locks, more features, better digital display, and sooo much more power. After riding my sportsman i get on my rancher and laugh, there is no comparision and my rancher cant go near as many places as my sportsman can go. WAY more power, more ground clearence, true 4wd and goes way faster. And whats ^ with all the Vinson owners, go Polaris (honda and yamaha's are ok).

JJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJ,
Where in the world did you come from? You have NO idea what you are talking about! Yes you got me upset so here it goes.
Your first problem is that you owned a Honda and that's the main reason your smaller machine didn't have any power. In fact even Hondas biggest machine can't hang with any of the other monster quads when it comes to power. Umm, let me break it down TO YOU. Most people I ride with have a Polaris and they by far have more problems than any other quad owner I ride with. There are 4 guys I ride with that own the big 700 Sportsman and I can go everywhere they do and in fact I do way better in the snow and mud. I'm sure my tires have something to do with that but those things are way to heavy!
There's nothing worse than a newbe making their first post and running their mouth.
Now before everyone jumps on me let me say there is nothing wrong with Polaris or Honda. They are both great machines but facts are facts.

lol, i've been reading this info for years, and yeah i owned a Honda, but my cousin owns a Metallic Black '05 Grizz, and my best friend owns an '04 AC 500..... so i know what im talking about when i say bigger is better, besides u own a vinson.. i have ridden with vinsons before, and they dont come close in mud, water, or top speed with my quad, ( i have many upgrades on my quad) but anyway, my Polaris hasn't been to the shop at all, and believe me i abuse it .. really bad. In fact my rancher has been to the shop much more, and Hondas are known for durability?.. Anywho, yea, you dont feel all that weight when your riding a sportsman, and the parts are built strong, thats where the weight comes from, and IRS. And im not running my mouth, stating facts. My top speed is 66, and the ride is oooh so comfortable, and my 4wd system is way better than a vinson, AC and honda, Grizz are pretty tite.. but I out perform my friends quads all the time and if you think a vinson compares.. what planet are u from
