I use an old trick from my school days (my Mom packed my lunch this way in the winter... northern Alberta)... try making some hot soup, pour into a wide mouth thermos, leaving some room, slip in a good smokie and close the lid.. wrap a bun in tin foil and when your ready to eat, put the bun (still wrapped in tin foil) on top of you muffler for 15 minutes.. find a nice spot... carefully pour the soup into the cup, place the now steaming hot smokie on the bun and dig in!

Gee I feel like a real city slicker, we just stop in a tavern or cafe get a pizza or sandwich and a root beer.

Wow where do you ride Upnort? Where I ride you don't even see another person let alone a store. I have seen a bear or two and plenty of moose but the closest tavern is 50+ miles away.

There's just something magical about an open fire. A barbeque on the open trail can bring a smile to the worst of ATV trips. It's a must for every trip...even if you are only going out for a few hours.

When I was young we always heated food up on the engine of the car while we were driving to the campsite. Now, if I could only figure out how to do that on the quad... My muffler isn't even right for this. So I guess it'll always be sandwiches, gorp, and at best, hot coffee.

And yeah, where do you ride UPNORT? Downtown Cumberland? Ya just drive up to the 'drive-up' window of the local pub and order bangers and mash to go???? I wanna ride there!

You guys ever heard of the self heating M.R.E.'s ( Meals Rejected by Ethiopians) actually they are Meals, Ready to Eat. Military rations, not bad, and all you do is rip open the top, pour in some water, and in a few mins you have a delightful meal. We carry them in Smowmachines, ATV;s, Trucks, Planes. Best and easiest way to get something hot. These are not like the Combat Rations that some of us were familiar with in the 60's.

How do you heat the MRE's up . up here in Northern Ontario the mre's are very hard to come by.
I kinda like that one post where the sausage was put into the thermos of soup. I'm goin to try that one.

The MRE, have a Chemical pack in the out packageing. You rip off the top and pour in some water, and it has a reaction that causes heat, and lots of it. then you take the inner package out,of the water, and that is the food. We had a couple of fires up here last year, and suddenly there are MRE all over the place. I know one guy that has 20 cases, which I think is a bit much. We managed to burn over 6 million acres. It was a real pain in the butt, and ruined my summer of fly fishing. Had to stay and watch the fires burn towards my cabin. I am not sure if you guys have the same types of MRE's.
