Default Wheel Spacers

Does anyone use wheel spacers on the utility ATV's? I want to widen my Prairie a little bit and thought these maybe a good method. I never get more than 1 foot off the ground, mostly mud/rock crawl and really dont ride very fast. Will they work for me? Any makes to get? I know I should avoid stud extenders but are there others to avoid?
Thanks!

Have you considered new wheels? The ITP C-series have a +1 offset front and rear and would set those 27" tires out quite a bit.
