can anyone tell me what the best lubricant is to use when re-assembling my winch after cleaning it for general maintainance. Also, does anyone know if i can get metal endcaps for my winch instead of nylon, my winch is only a year old, and i already stripped one end cap that retains the planetary gears. i do realize that it was probably due to lack of maintenance on my part, but all the metal parts inside my winch look great.

WARN Lubrication: Aeroshell #17 ... but i've used Mobil 1 RED and worked fine. If you stripped one end cap, sounds like you have overheated the winch or stalled it for over a few seconds.
