Default 2x4 or 4x4?

I'm late to the party as usual. But I'll add my two cents anyway. Gotta go with the 4x4, as long as it's switchable between 2x4 and 4x4. I use mine in 2x4 probably 98% of the time. But those 2% times will really pay off and you'll be glad you have it. As an old saying goes (and I'm altering it to fit this case - ahem), it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it...

Default 2x4 or 4x4?

Well, for those interested, I finally decided. I wanted switchable 2x4/4x4 mode at the cheapest price I could get locally. So I picked the Yamaha Bruin 4x4 Auto. I read comments from others that own them as well as the review of the machine here on this site. It sounds like it will do everything I need & will be a great first ATV.

I talked to a bunch of dealers and got prices all over the board. This morning, I called the dealer with the lowest price and found out he sold his last one yesterday! I should have bought it when I was there on Tuesday... Now I'm waiting for him to call me back when he gets another in stock.

Thanks for all your help, I can hardly wait to run the Bruin all over the farm!

DJS60,

I think you'll be more than happy with your choice in quad. This past weekend we did a crazy ride in the snow, mud, mountains, and deep water and the three Bruin riders had no problems at all. I'm very impressed with these smaller quads. One big advantage you will have over others is the light weight. Good luck with your soon to be new quad.

Lefty, as a matter of fact, the dealership is Canton Yamaha/Kawasaki/Suzuki. They gave me no haggle, out the door pricing on the three quads I was most interested in. The had at least one of each in stock at the time I was there. They are probably the closest dealer to my house, and they had the lowest price that I could find without going out of state. I liked them and am looking forward to closing the deal.

Thanks for the riding offer, but this Sunday will be a farm work/family play day. Picked up a green Bruin from Yamaha of Canton today! I had never ridden one before, all my previous experience is on 2 wheels. This thing is a blast! The wife and I rode it around quite a bit, getting used to it & giving the kids slow rides around the barn. It is really a hoot. The wife was grinning a mile wide, I think she may like it more than I do...

Hope you'all have a great ride in Chatsworth, should be a beautiful day for it... David

(edited to fix typo)
