Gearing Question
#1
I was asked a question today about the gearing of ATVs and I really had no clue and thought someone here might know.
When we change tire sizes on our trucks we can change gearing to compensate for the difference in tire size. We were talking about changing tire sizes on ATVs and he asked if the gear ratios could be changed. I'm not that familiar with the internal mechanics of the drive train of ATVs especially the new ones. Is it possible to change out the gears to compensate for larger tires? I don't think I've ever seen replacement gears for ATVs. It sure would solve some of the problems with loss of power from installing larger tires on an ATV.
Can anyone clue me in on if this is even possible or feasable? I'm thinking it isn't as easy as swapping out new ring and pinion like you would with your truck or car.

this has came up before and you couldbut nobody has parts to do it so you would havto custom make some. but i heard that highlifter might be coming out with some gears but not sure. if you could lower the gear ratio that would work real good with big mud tires.
