went riding this last saturday . 74 degrees sunny best weather here in months . about 30 miles into this ride we parked on a sandbar visiting while the sport quad guys proceeded to stick their atvs in the rock strewn creek and us cool manly men with the utes came to the rescue . i used to be a sporty guy to . well enough gloating . i say to them yes your machine looks very cool and is very fast but it wont move on its own will it . ok on to the story . when i restarted my kodiak i backed up to go back up a hill for the return trip . when i backed up about 10 ft. i smelled a acrid take your breath away smoke . i then realized that fire was in under my handlebar area and black smoke was pouring out . while my freind brock threw creek water on it with little result i used my camelback to run the hose in under the handle bars where i quickly put out the fire using my black cherry flavored water . we the determined what happened was that the gas cap vent tubing was way to long and had got against the exhaust head pipe and caught fire after a very fast trip through the woods i guess it was really warm . we could find no other wires melted and it restarted and everything works fine . i cut about 6 inches off the hose that wasnt melted to where it just goes through the black plastic bar mount so there is no way it can touch . i just got this machine and it was at about 50 miles of riding that this happened . i will say this if i had not had the camelback water system i would have lost my quad that day and the other option would have been rolling it into the 5 foot deep hole of water which would cause more trouble . if i had been away from the creek with no camelback i would not have my quad right now . i give a big kudos to camelbacks and advise you to each carry one they do more than keep you watered they could save your quad or a freinds . the only problem is i drink flavored water and now the bees keep swarming around my handlebars .

no its no joke this actually happened . let me tell you when your new to me that is machine catchs fire way back in the jillicans it makes your butt hole pucker up tighter than a straight guy at a jim nabors concert let me just tell you . i was about to freak out . the camelback saved my quad . i used to carry several cans of soda or whatever in a cooler but since using my camelback i find it has enough to wet my whistle til i get back to the truck plus its a good fire putter outer .
