What is the Right Quad?
#1
Okay... my uncle has a 360 prarie and I have another uncle that wants to get into the sport. He wants to get a used quad. It has to be a 4x4 and 500cc +. His budget is kinda a factor. Nothing more then about 5 grand. What would be a good choice?

IMO I would get a Vinson or Sportsman 500HO. Both of these quads are very nice machines. The Vinny is much lighter and has a much more sporty feel to it but the Polaris is more comfortable. If shootout mean anything to you the Vinson has won every shoot out in every mag. since it came out with the exception of this year but since you're looking at used quads this doesn't come into play. If you go bigger I think the TwinPeaks/Prairie are hard to beat along with the Grizzly.

I would say a Polaris 500 H.O. or a Suzuki Vinson 500 or a Honda Rubicon 500. All these wheelers provide enough power to work and play. If you want a really nice ride i would get the Polaris. If you want a sportier one get the Vinson. And if you wand if you want a knock-around ATV get the Honda. I would stay away from the Polaris Sportsman 400, it is very underpowered and not fast as a lot of other wheelers. They are nice quads but they just don't have enough go for my liking.

If you limit yourself to a praticular make and model of used quad, the 06's could be used before you find the one you want. If your looking for a used quad, look for one that has been well maintained and don't worry about brand. All of the quads in the past 3 or 4 years have their good points as well as their not so good points. When he's ready to buy a new quad, then he can be more picky.

I agree with most of the comments made the Sportsman 500 H.O. or Vin...But to chose between the two would depend on wat you are goin to use it for...If he is a workaholic and neeeds towing power go with the Sportsman but if he likes a more speed oriented quad go with the vinson...but both great
