King Quad as a work machine?
#1
I'm getting ready to purchase a new big bore. I've got about $8000 to spend. I'm looking for a good work machine that will perform well on the trails too.
Right now the King Quad looks like the best deal to me, but I'd like to hear some of your opinions and Ideas.

The King Quad will do it all. It is great on the trails, one of the best. The only thing that takes away form the KQ's working abilities are the stock racks, they are very small and can't hold much weight. But it will tow around 1000lbs, maybe more so it could pull your 300lb trailer easily. But no matter what kind of work or play, it has plenty of power. Also with EFI, cold starts in winter aren't a problem, no choke or carb jetting to worry about From what I've heard, it plows great, I'll be plowing a 300ft driveway this winter, I got it in June so I haven't plowed with it yet, but I know it will push snow easily with all the torque it has.

I believe he said 300lb. butt, not trailerThe EFI is great for gas mileage and will start awesome in the winter. If you tip her over on the trails as well, as I have already done on my barely 100-mile-old King, it will restart like nothing happened to it when you get it back to rubber side down. No carb problems, flooding to deal with or gas leaking. I doubt that the difference between what a Prairie and KingQuad can tow is miniscule, and those ratings are based on what they can safely stop, not pull. They can actually pull well over those numbers.

The KQ would be a good choice. Just make absolutely sure you get one with the good VIN or a brand new 2006 one. The racks do suck. Hard.
The Bomber 800 looks to be quite the machine but there aren't too many in the US as of yet.
The Prairies are a proven performers but they are carb machines.
The Brute Force handles like crap but can be made better with expensive suspension mods. A carb machine too though.
In the end you have to get your *** on a seat and try to test ride as many as possible to see what suits you, your type of riding and your intended application. These boards and others are a great place to learn about systemic problems with certain models of ATVs that you won't hear of from magazines, TV shows etc. such as the early reverse problems on the KQ, the bad ball joints and carb problems on the Brute Force and the like. You have to wade through the idiotic brand loyalty blindness and the "my quad is the best because I own one" BS cheerleading but once you manage to sift through that crap there is valuable information to be gained.
BTW does anyone know of any aftermarket racks for sale yet?
