Overall which tire is better in the 26-27 inch size? (Will be used on a honda rancher 4x4) Will be used for trails/mud.

I think it comes down to what you like. I have 27" 589's on my Grizzly and I like them a lot! Great tires for snow and mud!

The 589's may be too heavy for the Rancher. I run 26" Dirt Devils and they're awsome. Usually you can find them cheaper than Mud lights and the differance in weight is only a couple ounces.

I'm not saying the 589's are bad, thats far from the truth. They are great tires but they are very heavy and it takes more to push them. on the other hand the XTR radials are light and the gas mileage has picked up over my older mud lites. very soft tire though so I don't know how long they last. I put lots of miles on my bikes so I will post conditions in time to come.

the 589's seem to be more aggressive and handle the mud better then the mud lites but like said the 6-ply's might be a lil on the heavy side for your rancher if you decide to go with one go with the 26 inch then you won't lose much horsepower but if you go with 27's you might be dissapointed and wishin you had more ponies.

Ya, I will stay in the 26" range, so which tire is better for trails/mud.

Unless you have a quad that can really turn a heavy tire like the 589 with a lot of power, you will be much happier with something like the Mud Light or Dirt Devil. They are an aggressive tire for the mud but smooth for trail riding.

hey, if you're really set on something like the 589's - take a look at the High Lifter M/S/T's. It's the same type of tire but I like them better and they'll save you a couple pounds.

The 589's are a heavy, tough tire but if you ride in ice and snow, the big solid lug of the 589 will hold 1 inch ice screws better than anything out there.
