There will always be "another ATV accident." There are probably 100 per day. The media only reports things that might sell media- therefore, they have to sensationalize it. No one reads that "another cancer victim died today." Even though, 700,000 of them die every year as opposed to 700 ATV riders (aprox.). It is economics, as you suggest. It is whatever sells newspapers, or pays lobbyists for the safety industry. That was the point of my post (which was in itself, a reply to a thread). I think that ATV'ing-as a hobby or activity, is probably fairly safe. My wife originally gave me the CPSC article and I had to bite my tongue to not point out how many more people die each year as a result of obesity (she might be a tad overweight). ATV deaths are not even in the same universe as some death causes. Statistics, 101, again.
