Default Tires vs Performance?

I seem to have terrible luck with flats, woke up two weeks ago and even had a falt on my PT Cruiser <sigh>.

Clearly more rubber means more weight but at this point I could care less, sick and tired of fixing flats or someone riding worrying about the tire I just plugged.

Do the 6 ply tires make riding or handling any different? What I'm thinking of doing is just getting an extra set for two quads so I can switch out next time I get a flat and keep the old tires on the rims for future use in case of a blow out or something.

I'm not all that concerned about performance since performance means jack if you are constantly having flats.

Anyone have any recommendation for a high quality all purpose tire(mud, snow, rocks)??

I went thruogh the same delima as you with the flats. You already said the answer so go get yourself a good set of 6 ply tires. I sugest the mudlight xtr's. there real good at everything.

for my personal use i love the 6-ply tires over radials i don't care what doug meier says on atvconnection. i know on the arctic cats anyways they make the atv handle way better then the soft sidewalls of the radials and they actually ride better if you go across a cultivated field they seem to float across the bumps. and i did have one flat i was playing in the mud in the ditch and i think a nail sliced my sidewall but the tires were so stiff i was able to drive it home slow and the rim never touched the ground and you don't have to worry bout the wires breaking while running it with a flat. i don't know how they would handle on your rincon but it won't hurt i am sure you will be very happy with them.

i put Gators on my lil Suzuki after i trashaed a tire miles from the trailhead. a can of fix-a-flat and a bunch of plugs barely got me to the truck. when i got the Brute i took off the stock tires and gave them to the tire place for $50 (less than 10 miles on 'em) and had Bighorns put on. both the Gators and Bighorns are 6 ply. i won't run less.

in reply to your question, i also replaced the tires on my 06 vinson after 33 miles had a flat. traded for a set of stock size dirt devils and really like them for my style of riding. they are not an extreme mud tire but they seem to work well in all conditions and they made my bike handle way better than it did with the stock tires. hope this helps

Thanks for the replies......gonna be expensive to replace all my quads so I think I'll just start with the Rincon, if I just get the same size on wheels at least I'll always have an extra set of tires on hand.
