Default What is a good Skid Plate Set for 2005 Rubicon? Worth it?

I was thinking that a good set of skid plates would be a good thing to get in the beginning for my new 2005 Rubicon.
So that it protects it, and makes the machine last longer.
No since tearing up the bottom of it in the first month, then covering that up.

What are some good skid plates?
And will they really protect it all that much more?

Thanks
~John

there's a ton of skid plate manufacturers out there. i have been looking at them myself. there are a couple of places that make very tough plastic or Lexan skid plates. Armordillo and Perfex. Perfex also makes aluminum plates too, and CV guards also.
as for aluminum, here's a few. Aluminum Products (bolted down with U bolts sticking down. some people don't like that very much. Ricochet, lots of people are using these and like 'em. Highlifter makes some that look nice but are very expensive. Pro Armor makes some that cost a little more than the average, but have some nice touches worked into the design. there are more, but this is as far as my research has gone so far.
i will probably get a plastic skid plate and aluminum CV guards (stick stoppers). if i were to go with aluminum plates, Pro Armor will probably be my choice. if money is the bottom line, a Canadian on another thread somewhere suggested getting a sheet of "puck board" (the super tough plastic) for about $50 and making your own.

hope i helped a little, and BTW i think almost everyone will agree it is worhtwhile to get something better than stock under your atv.

Thanks for the info Monty,

I will have to check those out.

I have been hearing food things about the plastic ones,
makes sence after I thought about it, its light weight, and will not dent, and should slide better.

I may go your route, metal "stick stoppers", and a full body plastic skid plate.
