I like the shovel idea also. PVC is good stuff. Looks like I will have a little project coming up.

As a side note, I found another use for good ole PVC for my SCUBA diving: Take 3 pieces of it attach each with 3 pieces of rope and you have a good, stable, SCUBA tank holder.

 

I was looking for a way to haul a chainsaw on my quad a few years back. I was cutting a LOT of trails through the timber.

What I decided to do was make one that attached to my rear rack with the bar pointing downwards.

I went to a plastics place and got a few pieces of UHMW that were about 4"wider and longer than the chainsaw bar. I took one of those 3/8" thick pieces and made a slide insert [for no damage to the chain] that matched the arc/length that was 1 1/2" larger than the bar [top, bottom & length]. It basically looked like an elongated horse shoe. Then I took the two other pieces and cut them to match the outter dimension of the slide insert. Once put together it would hold the bar of the saw like a stand for kitchen knifes in your kitchen [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

I then cut two pieces of 1/8" thick aluminum for the outter hard shell. This way it retained the shape and gave something more rigid to drill through for the mounting. I even added a strap that was an old dog collar as a latching system to secure the saw in the carrier.

I've been using this set-up for years without any problems

 

That was the owners design, not Polaris.
