Default Best Utility for tight trails

I have seen lots of ATVS ride in tight trails. I keep coming back to the conclusion that the Kodiak 450 is the best - most maneuverable ride out there. I have 2 friends - one with the Kodiak and one with a Polaris Sportsman 600 -- the 600 is always in the rear usually stuck between two tight trees. In looking at dimensions, I dont see a utility that can make it thru tight stuff like a Kodiak. Not sure what good the big machines are - unless in clear open areas - unless you have that -- get a Kodiak

if you cant go though them buy an aritic cat and go over them, just funning! hondas seem to have one of the narrowest turning radies's in the pack but most anything in the small to mid range size quad will fit on tite trails.

searay, mebbe where you ride, but the big machines have several advantages everywhere i have been. first, power. if you ride around here you will be climbing steep mountain trails. power makes the long steep climb a lot easier. i think power is good almost everywhere you go. second, ground clearance. you can go through deeper snow and over higher obstacles with a bigger machine.

i have an even smaller and more nimble machine than the Kodi, sut since i bought the brute, the little one is just a plow horse. the brute goes to the mountains. and it is far from an open area here.

just my thoughts.

I like the"get a cat and drive over them" comment Otherwise, my Dad has a kodiak, and swears by it. The only problem hes had was bearings, and breaks, after 4 yrs.

The very best tight trail machine I have ridden is the Recon, but alas it is only a 2wd. For 4wd's, I would add the Rancher to the list! for the stuff I ride, anything bigger (or heavier) than a Rancher would be pretty near useless.

For very tight trails you will often need a full featured quad. The 450 Kodiak (for 07 rebadged 450 Grizzly) has IRS, great ground clearance, low range, diff lock, Yamaha reliable belt drive, and it is only 43 inches wide. So if the trails are gnarly besides being very tight I sure agree with searay that the Kodiak is tough to beat in a compact package, if fact it is tough to beat period.

I would also suggest a kawasaki bruteforce 650i or 650, the polaris scrambler, Yamaha wolverine 450, or if you like them smaller the kawi 360 prerie, or polaris magnum. Hope this helps.

I would have to say a Rancher. I could turn on a dime. It was SO ridiculous how nimble the machine was. If a Rancher cant fit. Nothing can.
