The shocks are not bad, but just a little to soft. They need stiffer springs.

Oh come on raidermike, you dont have to get so defensive whenever someone points out a bad point on your brand of quad. >>>>>>

Not getting defensive, he's just wrong is all.

The majority of magazine editors and owners I've heard say that the Outtlander 800/650 have a bad front suspension/and weak brakes, I'm not making this up.. what good would it do me???? This guy looking for an ATV deserves to know the Outty does have a few weak points...This is just what I've read and heard over the past year they've been out so there is some truth in this. It's not like I'm bashing the Outty, just stating that their front suspension is less than perfect...OK??

Dont waste your breath Toyboy, the outty has zero problems, and everyone should own one. And if you want to be like them, you can buy a bigger bed, kick your wife out, buy a bag of strawberries and cool whip and sleep with your outty

Never said it was perfect, prob. no sport/ute is....I adjusted my shocks and there was a big difference......Not sure where the weak brake thing is coming from, slam on them and you almost go over the handlebars....Night and day difference from my Rincon, brakes and shocks for that matter. To say they have a "bad" front end/shocks is a pretty inaccurate statement IMO...could it be improved upon? Sure, what can't be?

Again we go back to people making statments based on what they've heard, been told or read somewhere.....I can only speak from first hand experience and this isn't my first Outlander so I know a bit of what I'm talking about. Absolutely people should be able to come here and get info. etc, but how accurate is "I hear from a guy who read somwhere the Outlander's have weak brakes"?? Give me a break.....

My "complaints" or area's of improvement for this quad would be:

Skid plates-I made my own
Better battery strap
Wish it were a bit lighter
Speedo should have a clock
Put the plastic tool kit back in the front area
Quick releases for the front and rear racks
A little bigger radiator, seems to shut on and off a lot but its still been pretty hot here
Wish it came in black
BRP should offer option which can make your quad unique, I heard A/C does something like this with it's plastics and designs/decals? I removed my racks and had to get a bit creative in covering up the holes and securing the front and rear covers.

I didn't hear that from a guy, that was written in ATV magazine's last big bore shoot out... the 6 guys that test these ATV's for a living all said their Outty's brakes were sqeaking loudly and grinding by the end of their test. I'm pretty sure they gave the Outty's front suspension a 25 out of 60... much lower than the other 5 ATV's they tested.

I own 2 Outty 800's and I agree the front shocks are the worst thing about the Outty. But I think the Outty is a very good machine, I also like the AC ALOT! Im sorry I dont think much of the PO PO. I have had great luck with yamamha's, and I have had very bad luck with kawisaki's (chassis SUCKS engine great)

So they said the front end was simply bad or inadequate? Squeeky brakes are normal on new Outlanders until they have been ridden for a while......They make an awful sound when wet.

There is a difference between bad/junk and something that could be better, night and day difference IMO.

How did the IRS compare to all the others? Junk as well?
