[i]Bottom line: My Eiger will go anywhere ur ATV with a locker can go.
I like when people believe in their stuff. I hope you mean, you can go where stock quads can go.

You remind me of the little kid on the playground that calls anybody out. If we beat you up, we are called bullies. If, we leave you alone, we are called scared! We can't win against you, or your Eiger(so, you say)

Ohhhhh wait, I just saw that you called out all "locker" quads. I may be exempt. I had to post this anyway though!

As, Blastfeem said, I look forward to hearing from you. You are like coffee in the morning!

One thing you guys never think about is where you ride and what type of trails and conditions you ride ur ATV in. most of you guys live and ride on a flat plain, I live in the mountains of central PA where there are vertical hill climbs, drop off cliffs, rocks and bolders, deep mud and deep, raging rivers to cross, and no offence to anybody here but I bet if most of you guys would chicken out to ride where I ride. Someday drop me an e-mail and transport ur locker ATV and meet me at the mud bowl ride in Madera PA, I will buy everybody dinner and beer, and lets ride that trail and see what urs and my ATV can do. At Madera they tape the 4x4 mud bowl for TV on the Spike Channel., btw; if ur afraid of heights then we can meet at 6 Mile Run, PA and ride along the drop off mountain cliffs, it would be fun watching you guys turn green. ha ha ha

you have to get out more. 3200' is a pretty small 'mountain'. I bet you'd back down a little bit if you went riding out west where the real mountains are, or maybe even if you came east where they are twice as tall as Penn.

This is a great thread, very intresting to read and funny. I also have an eiger and think that the 4 wheel drive system is very good but if it has a locker then why does Highlifter sell the Detroit locker for the eiger? Maybe it just me but it seems wierd to sell a locker for it if it has one right? Maybe some one can explain it me.

Maybe Motof150 can tell you. I have to warn you ahead of time you might have to enter his little confused world where limited slip is better than a locker and apparently when you get there it sucks all the brains from your head and replaces it a bunch of eiger/ford GARBAGE.

MotoF150, You must not have riden on any packed snow and ice. If you had, youd know a fully locked diff will go further than any unlocked diff will go. On low traction surfaces like ice, even the torque sensing diff , which is much better than any speed sensitive diff, isnt up to the job. To get going from a stop, on even a slight hill..you need all 4 turning equally

I ride in the swampy areas down here in SC... but they don't really compare to the river bottoms of Illinois... (mostly Mississippi) I keep an `02 grizzly up there, so if you ever want to take a trip from your local area... and experience some riding in other parts of the country let me know... I'll take care of lodging... And I'll take ya to some holes that I'd like to see ya get thru. Bring whatever tire size you want... I promise there won't be a single rut you get stuck on, except for the one you create.... Heck, it might be nice to be able to only have to use 1 quad to pull you out, instead of the normal 2 or 3 we need for the bigger ones...

That being said... anybody can say their "hole" is bigger than your "hole"... I'm glad to hear the limit-slip technology is coming along... But I find it hard to believe it is "as good as" a full on locker...

I have researched this subject extensively although I admit to lacking much actual experience. I believe the Polaris all wheel drive system works as well as a full locker when you have plenty of opportunity to spin the rear wheels relative to the front wheels like with snow or ice at which time the Polaris AWD front becomes a very effective full 4 wheel drive system. The Polaris AWD is sometimes better than full locker due to ease of steering in some situations. The Polaris system can be lacking when spinning rear end is difficult such as with sticky tires, big rock, and off camber. Engine braking is another area where differences can be significant. The Polaris and Rincon can be especially difficult in seriously steep situations. My guess is that the Eiger limited slip 4WD is no more effective than the King Quad in 4WD with diff lock turned off. Thanks MotoF150 for this always interesting topic.
