i have a set of mudzilla 27 in for sale on rims w/ less than 20 miles on them. i had a 05 grizz and when i put 27's on i didn't notice the power loss. i loved mine for fast speed and being able to blow doughnuts with it

there will always be a small difference in power when you increase the size of your tires, even more when you go to an ultra agressive tire from stock, the 26's will work fine but watch your axles, if you read a lot of threads here you will find lots of 660's snapping axles with larger tires.

There will be a small power (acceleration) loss as you increase tire size and weight. My friend (with a King Quad) and I had a friendly 400' drag race (400' level run on grass before decelerating). With his stock 2 ply 25" tires on the King Quad and with 26" 6 ply Dirt Devil XT's on my 700 Grizzly, he can take me by 1 quad length. When he put 27" 6 ply ITP 589's on it (and me with the same 26" Dirt Devils) I beat him by 1 length. So going from a light weight 25" to a heavy weight 27" made a 2 quad difference in acceleration at 400' (on a King Quad).
Really though, drag racing is the only time you may notice the difference. I have found that the larger tires seem to give you a little better control (they roll over rocks and logs easier) besides giving you a little more ground clearance.
Personally, I prefer the 26" size for a general purpose trail rider but switch to the 27" 589s in the winter (those were my winter time 589s that my friend was trying out since I haven't put them on my 660 Grizzly yet for the season). I don't do a lot of mud, but if I did I'd probably want a larger tire (and might settle on a 27" size for general purpose use)...
