I rode around for over a year with just such a set-up, 24x8-12 on all four corners. It was a very light weight set-up and worked very well...

Say Wolfy, were you running the 8 inch tires on stock Yamaha rear wheels that came stock with 10 inch tires? If so any issues with 8 inch sidewalls on the wide wheel. I have often thought about going this route of 25x8-12 Bighorns on all wheels. Reason is weight savings and easier to pick through rocks and ruts.

No, I was running 12x7 DNA aluminum wheels front and back with the 24's. When I first started riding with that set-up I was more than a little worried about rolling a bead off the wheel (the tires were in fact only 7 1/2 inches wide), but it never happened and I tried (unintentionally) many times. Turned out to be a real nice set-up. I still have the DNA's and 24's ready to roll, I keep them as a back-up to my current set.

Thanks Wolfy. My guess is that the stock 700 rear wheels are close to 8-1/2 inches wide for 10 inch tires and that these wheels would be too wide for good performance of 8 inch wide rubber. Probably not the best idea anyway and should just stick to stock sizes. The idea of the lightest and narrowest Bighorn on all 4 corners is interesting to me though and I don't see any negatives for my type of terrain which is high mountains and rocks.

Why not pick up another set of stock front wheels and run them in the back? Should allow you to run 8" wide tires all the way around (assuming you can in fact put the front on the rear). You could test fit one of your front tires/wheels on the rear just to see how it looks. Just a thought...
