I understand where you are coming from about the push rods, but the HP is wrong. The HP for each quad as obtained this weekend from the manufactures, NOT THE SALES MEN are as follows:
OUTY 800 = 62hp
OUTY 650 = 52hp
OUTY 500 = 46hp
OUTY 400 = 36hp
POLARIS 800 = 55hp
POLARIS 700 = 49hp
POLARIS 500 = 40hp
POLARIS 450 = 34hp
KAWIE BF750 = 54hp
KAWIE BF650 = 49hp
So, for a "low tech push rod motor, thats pretty good for making the 2nd highest HP. And please remember, I am looking at a 2-up machine for my wife and I to trail ride, not drag race my bf750 or mud bog. It will be a trail machine and with the dump bed be used for some light chores around the property.

Can you explain??? So far ahead a decade ago no need for changes, yet.[/q Look at the difference in the Engines to start with. Polaris has a push rod two valve per cylinder low RPM engine with questionable reliability. That makes less HP than a 650 outty or a 750 BF and only a little more than a 700CAT. Then they are also the Jenny Craig of ATVs.

I would like to take this moment to point out that I never did have a Big Wheel, however was a regular shopper (against my will and a wearer of Traxx shoes) @ Kmart during the 70s. I did however, have a Green Machine. If you recall, it's selling point was it's ability to spin out. I loved that thing.
At any rate, enjoy whatever you buy 700vtwinman. As you already know, you can do better than the price you were quoted (at least I think so).

I wouldn't ask my wife to ride on that plastic seat . Then theirs the 6mo warranty on the Polaris compared to the 36mo on the outty. That must mean the outty is six times better.

Yeah they are the heaviest, built stout, but can't tell the weight on the trail. In the 5 Sportsman I own/ride with, none have had any quality issues, only driver error. Engines put out plenty of torque/power. Comes with skid plates.

I have owned four Polaris's and the only reason I keep buying them was at one time they were a good performing machine, They also didn't have a problem with weight. The reason that I left was that the other ATV companies started building better performing machines.Anothe benefit to leaving Jenny Craig was relablity something that all of the Polaris that I owned Lacked.

OK, those of you who have the polaris sp500 X2, tell me about the power. Does it have enough power when two people are on it in high range, or do you have to use low. I was even wondering about saving some money and getting the 500 X2, but am kind of worried about not having enough power. Of course, as soon as I would get a 500 X2, I would be wishing I had spent the extra $1500 for the 800 X2.....LOL. Most likely I will get the 800 X2 deluex, but I would like to hear about your 500 X2.

You seem somewhat set on a Polaris 2-up. That's fine, but a MAJOR delimiter for me is their AWD system. Be sure and get the Hill Decent System, which I believe is only available on their high-end units. The HD takes away most of the AWD complaints.
