Default rancher es shift problems

i have a 2004 honda rancher 350 es. it stopped shifting and the gear position display just flashes . if i pull the fuse to reset it it would be fine for a couple hours. Now that wont even do anything, as soon as i plug the fuse back in i hear two click noises and the selector light flashes instantly. I was wondering if anyone has heard of this ? thank you and safe riding.

There is a recall for defective "angle sensors". You should check with the dealer to see if yours is involved.

I had this same thing happen to my 04 recon. I disconnected the electrical connectons to the angle sensor and the gear position sensor, spayed the connectons with WD-40 and applied dielectric grease to them and connected them back together and never had a problem with the ES again.
