Just remember that the type 5 wheels will stick out way past your fenders (even with overfenders). Mud will be up your back all the time. ITP now has the SS106 that is made just for the Kodiak. It sticks out 1" less on each side. I have mine on order and hope to have them by the weekend. If I get them I'll post a pic. Oh yeah...you have to ask for the 6+1 offset if you get them.

I had 12" wide on the rear with overfenders and it still threw the mud pretty bad. I think the 10" would be a great choice and the maybe the different offset wheels Buck is talking about might be the ticket. The new SS108 ( black ) would look great on a utility IMO.

Now you guys really got me thinking.... i dont want mud up my back ALL the time. BUT! I do want the wider stance (within reason) I am thinking that the stock rim is a 6-1 offset and the type 5 (which is a favorite of mine looks wise) is a 5-2 offset. The other point is the stockrims are 7.5" wide and the type 5 are 7". I like the style and the deeper look of the type 5 over the ss106. (just my taste)
I'm not ordering this week but this is what i'm thinking...
I could just stick with stock size swamplites (25-8-12/25-10-12) on type 5 rims. This gives me the extra inch in offset and stance while no change in tire size other than the fact that the swamplites are probably a fuller cut than the stocks. The other option would be as Captain said that I would put the 26-9-12 on the fronts and 26-10-12 on the rear. I am hoping the width of a 26-10 and a 25-10 are similar and only the height changes. Maybe then they wouldn't stick so far out past the overfenders. One things for sure... I love the look of the larger tires on all your bikes but not into definate mud up the back at the site of a puddle. It's a tough call.

Squeege thanks for the link. Looks and sounds like a good deal. I'm gonna order one. did you take the exhaust screes out or just install the new power tip?

The stock tires with the type 5 rims won't do it. even though the offset should only be 1" per side it is 2" per side. Look at tech specs at the ITP website. I had stock Mudlites and Swamplites with the 5 series and it still sticks out past. The only way (right now anyhow) to not get muddy is stock rims or ss106. Believe me...been there done that. Not sure either but I think stock rims are 6" wide. I have 26 x9 fronts and 26 x 10 rears.

I would just get the 26"x10"wide rear and 26"x 8 or 9" front.....I am sure that would be much better than what I run. I get a little more muddy than I would like.

I do not run the screen, but not sure if it makes any difference. (never any wildfires out here)

Thanks for the feed back guys!

Buck I checked the rims on my kodiak last week and it's stamped on the outside of the front and rear rims 7.5 inch. I was just taking everything into consideration even the different widths of the rims. I didnt think it would be 2 inch total difference in offset per wheel. I thought it would be 1 inch difference per wheel and a 2" difference in overall stance. did you mean 2" per wheel just with rim offset or is that 2 " wider stance overall? Do you have any pictures of your setup?

Hey KodieSE8 do you have any pictures of your ride with the overfenders and the tires? Curious whatthat looks like! I take it you put the tires and spacers on the stock rims... right? Did you go on that trip yet?

It's 2" per side and 4" overall. It made the bike feel very stable but...alot of mud. Look at the bottom of this page for the info http://www.itptires.com/techinfo.html

Pics are up to show ITPSS106 wheels on a 05 Kodiak with 26" Swamplite tires. The second pic shows that the tires don't stick out past the overfenders. Just click on the camera under my name. Hope this helps 06redkodiak450.
