Between those two although I do not have actual experience with either one of them (only a few minutes of seat time on a Kodiak but none on the little King Quad), I would be more interested in the King Quad because not only is it full featured (IRS, manual 4WD & diff lock, independent front and rear brakes) but it also has EFI, something the Kodiak does not.
EFI would be a good thing for those that live and ride where you can deal with a large variance in elevation changes. Having the right fuel / air mixture is more important with the smaller quads that put out less horsepower to begin with since a power loss is to be expected uness the fuel air ratio is corrected to compensate for elevation in the ATV's operating environment...

I had a Kodiack 450 and it was flawless. I rode it at all evations and temperatures. The new Kodiack is independent suspension and a smaller package easy to handle.
The fact that you only have access to Yamaha tells something, your reprisentation is probably local. Keep that in mind.

Another thing to consider is what your wife feels comfortable on. The Kodiak has slightly smaller dimensions that the Grizzly 700 for instance. I have ridden one once and it does feel noticably smaller (although not as tiny as a Honda Recon for example!). From what others have told me the King Quad 450 is pretty much the same size as it's big brother 700 (although I don't know this for a fact). They are both IRS machines though so that improves the comfort factor. So it may come down to what fits her the best and what she feels most comfortable driving...

I agree it makes sence to see which she feels more comfy on. I have a Kodiak 450 06 and I am very happy with it. I live in upstate NY and I plowed a lot of snow this winter, but it was cold and wouls stall now and then until the machine really had a chance to warm up. If I had to do it all over again I would look very hard at the Suzuki. The EFI is something I really wish I had.
