Default BIG HORN or MUDLITE XTR TIRES

Well since my last post on this thread in October, we have had two more flat tires on our Rhino with the Bighorn tires on it. That makes two ruined tires from rocks tearing holes in the sidewall, and one ruined tire from a 1" diameter stick going through the sidewall. I'm still thinking this is a fluke, and that you guys will do just fine with the Bighorn tires you just purchased. Just wanted to set the record straight though, ... three ruined Bighorn radial tires in 700 miles use.

As far as snow traction is concerned, our Mudlite XTR Radials seem to work really good. Those are the tires we have on our Grizzly that pushes the snow plow all winter, and they work well for that. I even plowed a paved hiking trail that is three miles long today. We got 15" of snow last night, and since I use this hiking trail for exercise every day I went and plowed it with my Grizzly 700. With that long of a trail to plow I just turned the 60" blade to its maximum angle and cruised along. The plow blade was throwing snow as much as ten feet to the side, and the tires seemed to be hooking up real good.

DV.

So how much more does the Rhino weight than our Grizzly that would explain why you are breaking your Big Horns If you really are.I have seen mud lights run on ATVs along side of the same kind of ATV with Big Horns. The big horns will out perform the mud lights.

DesertViper, three ruined BigHorn radial tires in 700 miles use........that's pretty bad..........are you riding in different terrain............. I am hoping this is a fluke............. I think this would have happened even if you were running XTR or any kind of tire........... yes I can see your Mudlite XTR working well when your plowing.........they love to dig deep.............

Did you try calling the manufacture and seeing if they can cover the ruined BigHorns......... I don't know I keep smashing my'n around and so far they have taken everything.......... and more.............

Dude, I've smashed my XTR's off rocks and sticks and they still look new. I have over 1500 kms since last May and they still have the complete middle tread and small groves in the top in tact. I ride a ton of asphalt, mud, snow, rocky trails and sand. Creek beds, ravines, lakeshore and evrything else I can think of. I love them.

I was gonna get the Bighorns... till I did some research and picked the XTR's. To each his own though. I know guys with both... and I really think its a personal taste thing. I like the look of the more agreesive lugs on the XTR.

I don't think the XTR's are "plug lites". The XL version of Mud lites are kinda weak but I've really put these through the test in my opinion anyway.

I was leary to spend the money on these tires as here in Ont. the XTR's ar about $180 a tire. I know... I know... I know all about how the American dollar is par or better now but I'm a fan of keepin' my money local as everyone should support their own economy.

I don't think these tires owe my a penny more than they've cost.

G.I. Junker very, very nice unit. Those rim/tire combination look sharp. My friend has a red 2007 Kodiak with XTR's and he loves them. I say to each
his own. Just like you I researched and researched and I went with the BigHorns. I did read that the sidewalls on the XTR's are a little softer than the BigHorns but who knows. Look at DesertViper he is not having very much luck with the BigHorns..... so far ....... I have no problem and I really like them..... for me right now it's the BigHorns.....when they go........ I might try the XTR's

Yeah another friend of mine has a 450 with 14" SS rims and 27" Bighorns... they also look cool. I just really think that anyone can ride a stock bike around so why not change it up a bit if you can afford it. Nothin' wrong with wanting some ohh... ahh... factor in your life.

Cant go wrong with the xtr's. I ride with ac, yamahaha, suzpucky even the can-am or brp or whatever else people want to call it. Anyways all great bikes. Mostly it comes down to the rider and the tires on who can go the farthest through the mud or snow and we all have big horns and xtr,s. But it seems to me that the xtr,s sure grip in the mud and snow better because there the bikes that usually go further-but maybe its just the rider.
