Foam air filter oil or motor oil and how much on the bottom? Have you had it recently serviced? It's possible they over saturated the filter with oil. No water got in there did it?

Its normal for the Kawi v-twins to get a little oil in the airbox when they are run at high RPM, especially when climbing steep long hills. This is even more the case with big bore kits and high compression. I wouldn't worry about a trace amount of oil in the airbox. That doesn't explain why it isn't starting though. If it isn't starting, or there is a lot of oil in the airbox I would take it back to the dealer and let your Kawi warranty take care of it.

There's a breather hose that goes from the engine to the bottom of the airbox. This is allows a minimal amount of moisture is escape out of the engine. It can cough some oil up there sometimes, but only if you're doing a lot of off camber stuff... It can be a performance problem with higher-end mx engines that run carbs. (like my yfz) It can affect the air mixture because of the temp and humidity that it causes in the airbox. A lot of people will seal off the airbox and re-route the vent hose somewhere else.

I had the same problem with my machine... the more off-camber - the more oil ... Yami dealer confirmed that it is normal...

Default oil in air box

My Sportsman and my friends Kodiak get oil in the air box also especially when riding up and down steep elevations.
