back-up camera on quad
#1
Here's something I thought about. We always go out in groups of 4 up to 14 riders. The guy in the front has to constantly look back to make sure all of his ducks are following him. By looking back, your quad may hit a root or rut and because you are looking backwards, you may crash. This is where my idea comes in. Install a 'back-up camera' on the quad. You have the camera mounted on the back of your quad/storage seat, and the lcd screen on the handle bar. I'm looking at the new VR3 with 3.5 inch screen to do it with. Obviously the camera needs to be mounted quite high on the back of the quad to avoid water/mud. The LCD screen may also be protected. Camera would splice into tail light wire (of course lights on) for power and the LCD plugs into 12v up front. But I think this would work real well with the rider in front to keep an eye on his flock. Just something I thought about and I think if it works, it would add safety and some fun too.

I've thought about this at times too. Where I think it would be really handy is plowing snow. When I've got on all my winter clothing it's quite difficult for me to turn my neck around enough to see behind me. Part of it is the bulky clothes and hoods but I also have several bad disks in my neck and I just can't turn my head as far as I probably should.
More than once I've been plowing, thrown the ATV in reverse and promptly ran into something because I couldn't see what was behind me well enough. Heck I was riding in t-**** weather yesterday and backed into a tree I though was farther back than it actually was. Yes, I've tried mirrors but they always seem to get knocked off or they shake so bad you can't see out of them.

I met some folks in the camp ground of a riding area that were using rear view mirrors made for a bicycle. It was kind of a sleeve that went over the end of the grip, with a flexy stock so they don't break when you go by branches or whatever.
He let me try them out, and it actually was nice not to have to slow down or turn around at every trail intersection to make sure the next rider back is still there...
