A county plow has a shape that is meant for moving snow in primarily one direction. It is larger at one end to accommodate the build-up of more snow at the ejection side at higher speed(just like a plow on a high-way truck). This would be better for plowing long driveways or sidewalks. A standard plow would be more for plowing large open areas and/or shorter driveways.

A standard plow works good straight or angled either direction. A county plow works good angled one way but not the other or straight. It limits what you can do. If you think a standard plow isn't tall enough put a rubber flap on top. It works great for me.

Get the straight blade in a 60" if you have a 450 or above and a 54" or 48" for a 400 or smaller.

The size depends on if you want it to fit on a sidewalk, angled or straight, too. I can't plow my sidewalk with a 60" blade when it's straight but my 52" fits nicely.

I have to disagree somewhat. I bought the county style plow. I agree that when angled to the short side it's limited but I think the short side is standard height (not sure) However I do know that it plows great in the standard straight position just like a regular plow would. and it's really awesome plowing my long driveway when angled to the taper. I purchased the 50" Moose and it was easy to mount and so far has done a great job. I live in Northern michigan and we already have huge banks and several feet of snow. Two of the dealers suggested a standard plow unti I told them where I live (which is center of a snow belt) and they both recommended the tapered. IF you are planning on moving dirt and sand and don't get much snow YOu might want to go with the standard blade.

I have both, 60" straight and county. Salmonquest is right, they are both the same size on the left side. My county plow will do anything the straight will do, straight or throwing left. HOWEVER, throwing to the right, it's no comparison. If you go fast enough, I can throw a 5' to 6' berm. That's the biggest advantage. I also have about a mile of driveway to do. FWIW.
