Default Winch won't keep snow blade up...would a new winch do it?

When I purchased my new KQ400, I planned on purchasing a Warn winch for it--wanted something made in the USA or Canada. the dealer had a stack of Warn winches on display, so I took a look at them.

You guessed it--looked to me like it was made in China, too. There were no markings on the box as to where it had been manufactured--a sure sign that it was not made in the US.

So I bought a Gorilla 3000xt winch (made in China) for $98 off ebay. Figured I needed the $100-$200 difference more than Warn. The Gorilla winch came complete with roller fairlead and a wired remote, and holds my plow off the ground continuously, for days, without releasing.

I plow about 20 accounts in a high snow fall area I have used both the venom and Gorilla 2500 the both work fine no creeping even over night I do prefer the Gorilla it is quieter and seems to draw less power also has a better warranty and free spoil option

There are rebuild parts for the viper winch.. I found them on this web site http://stores.channeladvisor.com/venom-atv-winch/

Perhaps your cable is just re-spooling? I know that sometimes the cables get loose from plowing, especially if you put them down too far (if the winch is unwinding while plow is already down) you get a loose spool.......

Mine will do that sometimes, but if I crank it up extra tight (just a shot or two) it will tighten up the spool and the plow won't drop slowly......
